RAPID CITY — Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Jackson Taken Alive won Saturday’s Lakota Nation Invitational cross-country meet at Hart Ranch Resort.
Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Jackson Taken Alive captured the boys individual title with a run of 16-minutes and :14.2-seconds, well ahead of White River’s Elijah Haukaas (17:02.1). Wyoming Indian’s Kaiden Moss (17:09.3), Mahpiya Luta’s Rylan Cuny (17:30.8) and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Demtrius Sanchez Gonzalez (17:31) round out the top five runners.
Standing Rock’s Briauna Thompson won the girls race, covering the 5,000-meter run in 19-minutes and :05.2-seconds. Mahpiya Luta’s Tahca Zephier (20:07.9) earned second place while Standing Rock’s Evie Bradley (20:15.2) came in third. Wyoming Indian’s Dai’Onna Posey (21:35.9) and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte’s Aubree Miner (22:33.9) round out the top five times.
The CEB boys secured the team title with 30 points, ahead of Wyoming Indian (37) and White River (41). The Mahpiya Luta girls (25) clipped Wyoming Indian (26) for the team title, while Standing Rock came in third (30).
