Aug. 5 Class A Amateur Baseball Roundup - Brookings pulls away from Yankton for opening round win

Brookings Cubs 13, Yankton Trappers 6

ABERDEEN — The Brookings Cubs scored seven runs in the eighth inning to pull away from the Yankton Trappers at the Class A amateur baseball tournament on Friday.

Craig Lasley took the win for Brookings, allowing six hits and four runs in eight innings, while striking out six.

Justin Cofell led Brookings with three hits in four at bats, while Sam McMacken and Jared Tschetter added two hits each. McMacken led with three RBI, while Tschetter, Jeff Fish, and  Austin Koenig added two RBI apiece. 

Chris Rofe took the loss for Yankton, giving up six runs on seven hits in five innings, while striking out seven.

Tyler Linch and Collin Muth tallied three hits apiece to lead Yankton, while Linch added two RBI.
