Sioux Falls Hops 2, Aberdeen Circus 0 

ABERDEEN — Bryce Ahrendt threw a seven-hit shutout to lift the Sioux Falls Hops to a Class A amateur baseball tournament win on Saturday.

Ahrendt struck out six batters and walked one batter on 99 pitches. T.J. Miller recorded three hits and drove in one run. James Borges and Charlie Dubanoski each had hits, while Dubanoski drove in a run. 

Aberdeen’s Karson Hesser logged three hits, while Chad Ellingson, Michael Babcock, Dalton Cox and Kelly Coates added hits. Max Otto struck out 13 batters, allowed five hits, two earned runs and walked six batters in his eight-inning start.

Renner Monarchs 11, Brookings Cubs 0

ABERDEEN — The Renner Monarchs raced past the Brookings Cubs for an amateur baseball win at the Class A amateur baseball tournament on Saturday.

Tom Sun took the win for Renner, allowing zero runs on two hits in seven innings, while striking out nine.

Ben Ihrke led Renner with three hits in five at bats, while Ryan Hander and Ryan Hamilton added two hits apiece. Ihrke and Hamilton each had three RBI, while David Borchardt added two RBI.

JaColby Anderson took the loss for Brookings, giving up seven hits and nine runs, while striking out three in three innings.

Anderson and Austin Koenig each had one hit to lead Brookings.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 14, Rapid City Diamondbacks 3

ABERDEEN — The Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels logged 15 hits to earn a Class A amateur baseball tournament win on Saturday.

Connor Hurley recorded four hits and drove in two runs. Lucas Wilber, Carter Ades, Jaden Holzer and Dylan Ades had two hits apiece. Carter Ades drove in four runs. Seth Peterson allowed three hits, struck out two batters and allowed zero runs in his four-inning start to earn the win. 

Rapid City’s Cale Fierro and Jesse Riddle had two hits apiece, while Riddle drove in two runs. Christian Dicochea, Francisco Dicochea and Devin Romney each had hits. Francisco Dicochea allowed four hits, six earned runs, struck out one batter and walked four in his one-inning start.

Black Hills A’s 12, Yankton Tappers 8

ABERDEEN — The Black Hills A’s recorded 15 hits and picked up a Class A state amateur baseball win over the Yankton Tappers on Saturday.

Dylan Gillespie recorded four hits and drove in five runs. Matt Hill logged three hits and drove in a run. Seth Johnson and Cam White logged two hits apiece. Adam Deneke and Ryland Smith each had hits. Gillespie lasted the first 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs, four walks and struck out three batters.

Yankton’s Tyler Linch logged three hits and drove in a run. Mason Townsend and Drew Ryken each had two hits and an RBI. Rugby Ryken and Devin Gullickson drove in two runs apiece. Joe Gokie and Derek Quame added hits. Yankton’s Colin Muth took the loss after four hits, one earned run, three walks and struck out one batter in three relief innings.
