CUSTER — Custer captured the team title at Friday’s Billy Young Invitational. The Wildcats racked up 245 points, finishing ahead of Spearfish (199) and Sturgis JV (169).

Custer’s Tray Weiss (113 pounds), Landon Woodward (126), Jonathan Lewis (170) and Ryder Bailey (182) claimed individual titles for the Wildcats. 

Burke/Gregory logged a trio of winners in Judd Hansen (106), Owen Hansen (138) and Jhett Eklund (160). 

Spearfish’s John Jeffery (120) and Aiden Kracht (145) claimed individual titles for the Spartans. Burke/Gregory’s 

Harding County’s Lincoln Wickstrom (132) and Grey Gilbert (220) captured individual titles. 

Douglas/Rapid City Christian/New Underwood’s Kale Crowser (152), Hot Springs’ Caleb Rickenbach (195) and Sturgis JV’s Tyce Uherka (285) were the other individual winners.

Mitchell pulls away from Chamberlain in dual action

MITCHELL — Mitchell won four of the last five weight classes to earn a dual win over Chamberlain on Friday, 45-27. 

With the dual tied at 21-21, the Kernels pulled away by winning four of the last five matches to secure the win. Mitchell’s Jagger Tyler (160), Sean Foote (182) and Seth Foote (220) all picked up pins to power the comeback. 

Mitchell’s Colton Blow (113) and Kaiden Allen (145) also won contested matches. Chamberlain’s Canyon Burkard (285), Isaac Shepherd (126), Xavier Donovan (132), Devyn Anderson (138) and Bryce Reuer (152) won contested matches for the Cubs.
