MITCHELL — Winner-Colome punched its ticket to Friday’s quarterfinals with a 13-1 win over Salem Wednesday night.

The Pheasants led 5-1 after the seventh inning and exploded for eight runs in the top of the ninth inning.

The run support was plenty for Connor Hopkins who limited the Cubs to just one hit while striking out 12 in a complete game effort. The only hit came off the bat of Rob Lind, who had an RBI double in the sixth.

Derek Grasser led the Pheasants with four hits including a home run. Austin Calhoun had three hits and Brendan Kamerzell and Zach Harter added two hits each.

Tyler Earls took the loss for the Salem — pitching 8 2/3 innings, giving up 13 runs on 18 hits.

Winner will face Kimball-White Lake after the Nationals jumped to a 6-1 lead after four innings en route to a 9-4 win over the Redfield Pheasants.

Zak Wallner, Dylanger Pierson and Wesley Kroupa led Kimball-White Lake with two hits each.

Wallner picked up the win, pitching a complete game, giving up four runs on 13 hits. He struck out 10 and walked three.

Barrett Wren, Levi Logan and Keith Jandel led Redfield with three hits each.

Justin Link took the loss after pitching just 3 2/3 innings. He gave up six runs on six hits before handing the ball off to Cooper Walton. Walton pitched the final five and a third innings, giving up three runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked none.
