Mitchell’s Caden Hinker announced his commitment to the Augustana University men’s basketball team on Tuesday.
The Mitchell High School senior averaged 17.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game last season, while hitting 33 3-pointers and recording 20 blocked shots.
He shot 71% from the free-throw line and led Mitchell in scoring for the third consecutive season. The 6-foot-7 Hinker also scored his 1,000th career point last season and is one of six players in program history to reach the milestone, joining Mike Miller, Tyson Theeler, Scott Morgan, Bart Friedrick and Beau Brown.
Hinker also set the program record for most assists (121) and defensive rebounds (217) in a season. Hinker also reportedly held offers from Division II schools Harding University (Ark.) and Washburn University (Kan.), among other schools.
Augustana University is an NCAA Division II instituition and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
