MITCHELL — The Renner Monarchs punched their ticket to Sunday’s Class A championship game with a 13-8 win over Brookings Friday afternoon during the Class portion of the South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament.

Cyler Melvin led the Monarchs with four hits. Tyler Blackburn and Chaz Palmer added two hits each.

Alex Frout picked up the win, pitching six innings, giving up four runs on nine hits.

Alex Gauer led the Cubs with three hits while Tyler Kreutner added three hits as well.

Jake Devine took the loss for Brookings, pitching 2 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on three hits.

The Monarchs will wait to see how Saturday plays out. The Cubs will play the winner of Harrisburg and Baltic.

The Hops defeated Aberdeen Circus 4-2 in an elimination game Friday afternoon at Drake Field while the River Dawgs knocked off the Black Hills A’s 5-3 in the other elimination game.
