Winner/Colome rallies past Redfield Area, advances to Class B semifinals

Winner/Colome 5, Redfield Area 2

SIOUX FALLS — Winner/Colome scored five unanswered runs to secure a South Dakota Class B high school baseball tourney win over Redfield Area on Tuesday. 

After giving up two runs in the first inning, the Royals scored the game’s last five runs to advance to the semifinals. Winner/Colome’s Aiden Barfuss and Ethan Bartels both went 3 of 4 and drove in two runs apiece. Bartels earned the win after scattering nine hits, allowing two runs (one earned), walking one and striking out one batter in the complete-game performance. 

Barfuss finished with two doubles for the Royals, who collected 12 total hits. Jack Peters added two hits, while Pierce Nelson, Joey Cole, Charley Pravecek and Ashon Klein each had a hit. 

Redfield Area’s Camden Osborn finished with two hits. Owen Osborn, Peyton Osborn, Fehi Faonelua, Keaton Rohlfs, Erik Salmen, Seth Siebrecht and Nolan Gall each had a hit. Faonelua took the loss, allowing 10 hits, five runs (three earned), striking out five batters and walking two in his five-inning start. 

The Muskrats finished the season 15-1. 


Dakota Valley 6, West Central 5

SIOUX FALLS — Dakota Valley used a four-run fifth inning to edge West Central at the South Dakota Class B high school baseball tournament on Tuesday.

After West Central’s three runs gave it a 4-2 lead, Dakota Valley plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth and never relinquished the lead. Randy Rosenquist’s two-run single capped off the four-run frame. 

Rosenquist finished 2 of 3 and drove in three runs. Ethan Anema added two hits, while Isaac Bruns had one hit and two RBI. Brayden Major earned the win after allowing four hits, four runs, walking two batters and striking out four in his five-inning start. 

West Central’s Duece Sherrard and Grafton Stroup finished with two hits apiece, while Stroup drove in two runs. Sherrard added an RBI. Braden Herr and Gavin Koch each had a hit. Stroup struck out seven batters, allowed six hits, six runs (two earned) and walked one in his six-inning start. 

West Central finishes the season 12-3. 


Madison 13, Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake 5

SIOUX FALLS — Madison scored the game’s first 10 runs to race past Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake at the South Dakota Class B high school baseball tournament on Tuesday.

Aspen Dahl picked up the win for the Bulldogs, allowing zero runs on zero hits in 2 ⅓ innings. He also struck out five batters and walked zero. Lucas Mork, Mason Kennington, and Mickale Dohrer all came in for relief. 

The Bulldogs totaled 11 hits on the day, with Nathan Ricke and Trey Smith leading with three each. Ricke also drove in five runs, while Smith drove in three. Kennington finished with two hits and two RBI’s.

Dawson Hoffman took the loss for the Honkers, pitching two innings and striking out four, while allowing six hits and seven runs. Jackson Olsen, Aiden Bultje, Grayson Hanson, and Caden Foxley each tallied two hits for the Honkers. Foxley drove in two runs.

Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake finishes the season 13-1.

 

Dell Rapids 7, Madison 0

SIOUX FALLS — Dell Rapids used a four-run fourth inning to earn a South Dakota Class B high school baseball tournament semifinal win on Tuesday. Dell Rapids advances to the Class B state championship game on Wednesday.

Tad Tjaden earned the win for Dell Rapids, pitching six innings and allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out nine batters. Will Jaton threw one inning in relief.

Dell Rapids recorded eight hits, including two each from Jack Henry and Dylan Mathis, while Mathis also drove in two runs. Brayden Pankonen, Landon Ruesink, Treyse Eastman, and C.J. Smith each had one hit.

Nathan Ricke took the loss for Madison, lasting 3 ⅔ innings and allowing five hits and seven runs, while striking out three batters. Aspen Dahl led the Bulldogs with two hits in four at bats.

Madison finishes the season 16-5.
