Sioux Falls Washington 3, Sioux Falls Lincoln 1

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Washington closed the evening session of the Class AA state volleyball tournament with a four-set win over Sioux Falls Lincoln. The set scores were 26-13, 25-14, 20-25 and 25-18. 

Kaelyn Snoozy finished with 18 kills, an assist and eight digs for the Warriors. Cate Legel had 16 kills, an assist, three aces, 11 digs and assisted on two blocks. Macie Malchow finished with 45 assists, three kills, three aces and 12 digs while Nyariek Kur had eight kills. Carlie Beckstrand added seven kills, an assist, three digs and assisted on a block and Taryn Kirsch had five aces and fourteen digs. 

Linnea Nesheim led Lincoln with 12 kills and added two aces, six digs and two solo blocks. Ella Warden had 12 assists, an ace and seven digs and Josie Tollinger had seven aces, six digs and assisted on a block. Julia Blom finished with 11 digs, three aces and a kill for Lincoln.


Harrisburg 3, Aberdeen Central 0

RAPID CITY — Top ranked Harrisburg earned a straight-sets win over Aberdeen Central on Thursday at the Class AA tournament in Rapid City. The set scores were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18. 

Gabi Zachariasen powered the Tigers with 14 kills, nine digs and a block assist. Josalyn Samuels finished with 35 assists, three kills, an ace and three digs. Karalynn Leach added nine kills, five aces and five digs while Maggie Meister had 14 digs and two aces. Kennedy Kokenge contributed five kills, an ace, seven digs and a block assist. 

Ayrlie Waldo led Aberdeen Central with 17 assists, five digs, a block assist and five kills. Lauryn Burckhard finished with six kills, two aces and a dig while Alivia Miller had three kills and two digs. Ashley Wangler had five kills and a block assist while Kennedy Osborne added three aces and 10 digs for Aberdeen Central. 


O’Gorman 3, Watertown 0

RAPID CITY — O’Gorman advanced to Friday’s Class AA volleyball semifinals with a straight sets win over Watertown on Thursday. The set scores were 25-16, 25-12 and 25-22. 

Powering O’Gorman Thursday was Kyra Hermanson who dished out 28 assists and had three kills, three digs, a block and a block assist. Keira McManus had 10 kills and was part of four assisted blocks while Ava Schuler had six kills, five digs and two assisted blocks.Tyla Mauney finished with three assists, one ace and a team-leading 23 digs. Lauren Meyer contributed six kills, four digs and an assisted block with Katie McKay had an ace and nine digs. 

Miranda Falconer led Watertown with 22 assists, a kill, eight digs and an assisted block. Emery Thury led the Watertown hitters with nine kills while also adding two aces and ten digs. Natalie Pearson led the team with 13 digs while Carter Jurrens added six kills a digs and three assisted blocks. 


Sioux Falls Jefferson 3, Brandon Valley 0

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Jefferson advanced to the semifinals of the Class AA state volleyball tournament with a three-set win over Brandon Valley Thursday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-21 and 25-11. 

Leading Jefferson Thursday was Presly Pastian who had 32 assists and six digs. Emory Brosnahan led the hitters with nine kills while also adding three digs and two assisted blocks. Elizabeth Spah had eight kills, two digs and an assisted block while Isabel Simmons had seven kills and an assisted block. Cora Hokenstad finished with six assists and 12 digs and Ella Kvernmo finished with seven kills, an assist and 12 digs. 

Leading Brandon Valley was Riya Sheley who contributed two kills, 18 assists and seven digs. Abby Gruber finished with six kills, an assist and a solo block. Jersie Melcher finished with six kills, a dig and an assisted block and Jayauna Stroh added four kills and seven digs. Sydney Benson finished with two assists and 13 digs.
