Elk Point/Jefferson 2, Lake Norden/Badger 0

SALEM — Keaton Gale’s 12-strikeout performance helped Elk Point/Jefferson blank Lake Norden/Badger in the opening round of the State B Legion Tournament Friday.

Gale tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and four walks while fanning 12 batters.

Ashton Fairbanks drove in a run on one hit and one walk, while Kayden Moore, Ethan Bovill, and Landon Johnsen each tallied hits in the win.

For Lake Norden/Badger, Dawson Noem took the loss allowing one run on two hits and two walks in four innings, striking out four.

Noem and Ryker Warrington each tallied hits in the loss.


Dell Rapids 10, Big Stone City 0 (5 innings)

SALEM — Dell Rapids’ pounded 13 hits as it blanked Big Stone City in the opening round of the State B Legion Tournament Friday.

Tad Tjaden, Mason Stubbe, CJ Smith, Cole Ruesink, and Lincoln Fersdahl each had two hits, combining for six RBIs, including a double by Smith and a triple by Ruesink. Treyse Eastman and Talan Millage each drove in a run on one hit, while Sutton Williams tallied a double in the win.

Tjaden tossed five shutout innings in the victory, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out eight.

For Big Stone City, Connor Danielson allowed nine runs on 12 hits and two walks in 3.2 innings, striking out six batters.

Dru Boots collected two hits, while Isaac Brown and Cadyn Vanderwal each tallied a hit in the loss.

 

Parkston 9, Platte/Geddes 0

SALEM — Carter Sommer struck out eight batters as Parkston blanked Platte/Geddes in State Legion action on Friday.

Sommer allowed zero hits, zero runs and zero walks through four innings. Sommer threw 43 pitches. Grady Bowar pitched three scoreless relief innings, struck out one batter and allowed two hits. 

Offensively, Luke Bormann had two hits and drove in one run. James Deckert added two hits, while Kolter Kramer drove in two runs. Kaden Holzbauer drove in a run.

For Platte/Geddes, Jye Bailey and Maddux VanZee each had hits. Caden Oberbroekling took the loss, allowing five hits, three earned runs, six walks and struck out nine batters in 3.2 innings. 

 

Salem/Montrose/Canova 9, Groton 1

SALEM — Salem/Montrose/Canova scored six runs in the sixth inning to put away Groton in Class B state Legion action on Friday.

Shea Klinkhammer finished with two hits and drove in two runs. Owen Alley added two hits, while Jackson Grady drove in three runs. Carter Randall added two RBIs. Jackson Remmers and Kade Shumaker each drove in runs. Luke Koepsell earned the win, striking out four batters, allowing four hits, one earned run and zero walks through 4.2 innings. 

For Groton, Ryan Groeblinghoff, Teylor Diegel, Colby Dunker and Karsten Fliehs each had hits. Fliehs drove in the lone run. Losing pitcher Dillon Abeln struck out seven batters, allowed seven hits, eight earned runs and walked four batters in 5.2 innings. 

 

Renner 7, Harrisburg Gold 6

BROOKINGS — Sullivan Schlimgen’s walk-off single lifted Renner past Harrisburg Gold in the Class A Legion tournament on Friday. 

Schlimgen finished with two hits and drove in two runs. Charlie Hueners had three hits and drove in a run. Braylon Bear had two hits. Jacob Sanderson earned the win, striking out three batters, allowing six earned runs, five walks and walked nine batters in seven innings.

For Harrisburg Gold, Eli Kokenge finished with three hits and drove in two runs. Jack Riley had three hits. Carter Gronseth smacked a home run. Gronseth was the losing pitcher, allowing one hit, one earned run, four walks and struck out two batters in 2.1 relief innings.
