Mount Vernon/Plankinton 52, Miller/Highmore-Harrold 19

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton improved to 1-1 on the season with a win over Miller/Highmore-Harrold in high school football action Friday. 

Cain Tobin led MVP offensively with 93 rushing yards and a touchdown. He also had 32 yards receiving and a touchdown. Quarterback Isaiah Olson finished with 43 yards passing and a touchdown. The Titans defense was led by Tobin and Brady Fox who both had interception returns for touchdowns. 

Miller/Highmore-Harrold’s Derek Brueggeman led with 81 yards and two touchdowns. Colby Kolda added 46 yards on the ground and a touchdown. 

Winner 46, Wagner 6

WAGNER — Class 11B No. 1 Winner rolled past Wagner for a Friday high school football win. The Warriors rushed for 374 yards on 35 carries.

Karson Keiser ran for 163 yards and scored three touchdowns. Aiden Barfuss added 128 rushing yards and two scores. Stratton Morehart threw for 36 yards, with Barfuss finishing with all of the receiving yards. 

Defensively, Morehart had 5.5 tackles, while Breven Bolander and Keiser intercepted passes. 

For Wagner, Jhett Breen rushed for 93 yards on 23 carries. Ganon Knebel threw for 14 yards and had a passing touchdown. Daniel Soukup hauled in a touchdown pass and Carlos Galindo had 79 receiving yards. Parker Petry posted 7.5 tackles. 

 

Harding County-Bison 28, Kadoka Area 26

BUFFALO — Class 9A No. 5 Harding County/Bison held off Kadoka Area for a Friday high school football win.

Harding County/Bison’s Rylee Veal finished with 208 rushing yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns. Hayden Pihl passed for 64 yards and threw two passing touchdowns. Kaden Green and Nayati Bickerdyke hauled in touchdown passes. Braden Routier logged 19 tackles and Evan Meyer had an interception.

For Kadoka Area, Gus Stout rushed for 203 yards and scored two rushing scores. Kole Hermann added 71 rushing yards and a touchdown. Maxx Blair hauled in a touchdown reception from Garrett Hermann, who passed for 31 yards. 

Stanley County 38, De Smet 30

FORT PIERRE — Stanley County knocked off Class 9B No. 2 De Smet in Friday high school football action. 

Stanley County’s Broch Zeeb finished with 101 passing yards, while Brendon Bothwell hauled in 101 receiving yards. Barret Schweitzer rushed for 190 yards. Paxton Deal had 11 tackles and two interceptions on defense. 

For De Smet, Britt Carlson finished 10 of 21 for 170 yards and four interceptions. He added 69 rushing yards and three scores, while he had 11 tackles and three sacks on defense.

Kadyn Fast finished with 78 receiving yards, 91 return yards and 12 tackles. Tom Aughenbaugh posted 43 yards receiving. Ganon Henrich had a rushing touchdown, while Trace Van Regenmorter had 61 rushing yards. Gannon Gilligan logged 13 tackles.

 

Faulkton Area 40, Hitchcock-Tulare 0

TULARE — Class 9B No. 4 Faulkton Area blanked Class 9B No. 1 Hitchcock-Tulare in Friday high school football action. The Trojans tallied 351 rushing yards in the win. 

Faulkton Area’s Garrett Cramer rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns. Layne Cotton added two rushing touchdowns and Spencer Melius added a rushing score. 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Erik Salmen had 22 carries for 122 rushing yards. He added 85 yards receiving and three tackles on defense. Brendan Nowell rushed for 42 yards, passed for 148 yards and had three tackles. Payton Chasing Hawk hauled in 56 yards receiving.


Ipswich 48, Northwestern 10

IPSWICH — A balanced attack helped Ipswich to a big win over Northwestern in high school football action Friday. 

Quarterback Max Kulesa finished his night going 10-of-14 for 231 yards and four total touchdowns, including three through the air. Casey Geditz led Ipswich with 90 yards rushing that included a 75-yard scoring run in the first quarter. Brody Davis led the Tigers with 15 tackles. 

Dustin Dirksen scored a late touchdown for Northwestern. The Tigers also added a late safety to add to their scoring. 

Avon 62, Burke 28

BURKE — The Avon Pirates rolled up 54 first-half points on their way to a victory over Burke in high school football action Friday. 

Aziah Meyer led the Avon ground game with 115 yards and three touchdowns. Trenton Soukup added 66 yards and a touchdown run for Avon. Avon finished the night with 403 yards rushing.

Gentry Bartling led Burke with 61 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown. Eli Bartling completed six passes for 55 yards and a touchdown pass to John DeLong. 

 

Britton-Hecla 44, Florence-Henry 16

BRITTON — Britton-Hecla racked up 376 rushing yards en route to a Friday high school football win over Florence-Henry.

Bryce Hawkinson finished with 155 rushing yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns. Jace Rein recorded 125 rushing yards and a touchdown. Jaxon Zuehlke passed for 207 yards and tossed two passing touchdowns, while rushing for another score. Daniel Person hauled in 177 receiving yards and two touchdown passes. 

For Florence-Henry, Korter Kohlenberg rushed for 151 yards on 21 carries and scored two touchdowns. He added 31 receiving yards. Dawson Lantgen passed for 48 yards. James Kahnke logged 11 tackles and Kohlenberg had 10 tackles.


Elk Point-Jefferson 41, Baltic 6

ELK POINT — A balanced offensive attack helped Elk Point-Jefferson roll to a big win over Baltic in high school football action Friday. 

Jake Gale led the Huskies rushing attack with 11 carries for 110 yards with Gunner Ewing adding 38 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Keaton Gale passed for 161 yards and touchdown passes to Carson Timmins and Grayson Girard. 

Baltic’s leaders were Jackson Goehring with 10 rushing yards, Tate Feucht with 61 passing yards and Peyton Anderson with 49 receiving yards. The Bulldogs only score came on a 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown. 

 

Elkton-Lake Benton 49, Estelline-Hendricks 0

ESTELLINE — A well balanced rushing attack helped Elkton-Lake Benton earn a shutout win over Estelline-Hendricks in high school football action Friday. 

Colt Beck paced the ground game with 124 yards and two touchdowns. Riddick Westley finished with 91 yards and two touchdowns. Blake De Vries (60) and Eliot Ericson (56) also had big rushing nights for ELB.

Mattix Hausman and Caden Ching combined for 37 yards rushing to lead Estelline/Hendricks.


Herreid-Selby Area 24, Timber Lake 13

SELBY — Herreid/Selby Area pulled away from Timber Lake for a Friday high school football win.

HSA’s Houston Hauge rushed for 181 yards on 38 carries and scored three touchdowns. Mason Vetter added 44 rushing yards and a touchdown. Wayde Grage threw for 66 yards, while Trevor Gill hauled in 32 receiving yards. Kaden Sayler had eight tackles.

For Timber Lake, Gracen Hansen threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Farlee, who also scored on an 80-yard kickoff return. 

 

Mobridge-Pollock 42, Dakota Hills 8

MOBRIDGE — Mobridge-Pollock picked up a Friday high school football win over Dakota Hills. 

Simon Fried finished with 116 rushing yards on 15 carries, while he had 88 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. Max Saxon added 103 rushing yards and two rushing scores. Taylin Carmody passed for 240 yards and had two passing touchdowns. Jackson Eisemann added 96 receiving yards and a touchdown reception. 

Carter Hinsz had 10.5 tackles and fumble recovery, while Brayden Wientjes had six tackles.


Freeman-Marion-Freeman Academy 50, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0

LAKE PRESTON — Freeman-Marion-Freeman Academy rolled to a win over Lake Preston in high school football action Friday. 

Freshman Riley Gail led the Phoenix with 84 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Dominic Sperling added 66 yards on the ground while Riley Tschetter and Jackson Donlan each added rushing touchdowns. 

Josh McMasters led the Sharks with 23 yards rushing while completing three-of-six passes for three yards.


Milbank 9, Beresford 0

MILBANK — The Milbank Bulldogs ground out a hard-fought victory over Beresford in Friday night football action. 

Garrett Mertens led the Milbank team with 61 yards rushing. Mertens also completed seven passes for 34 yards. The only scoring of the contest came from a 22-yard, second quarter field goal and a six-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. 

Jack Stenen led Beresford with 76 yards rushing. Robert Watkins led the defense with ten tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss.


Dell Rapids 44, Madison 13

DELL RAPIDS — A bruising rushing attack powered Dell Rapids to a win over Madison in high school football action Friday. The Quarriers rushed for 392 yards on 35 carries.

Mason Stubbe rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns, while Cole Ruesink added 126 rushing yards and two rushing scores. Jack Henry threw for 108 yards and a passing touchdown. Ruesink hauled in a touchdown reception. Aiden Geraets posted nine tackles, a sack and an interception. 

Madison's Ben Brooks passed for 81 yards and two passing touchdowns. Brooks rushed for 48 yards. Shane Veenhof and Eli Barger hauled in touchdown receptions. Barger had 11 tackles and an interception. 

 

Tri-Valley 45, Parker 13

PARKER — Tri-Valley rebounded from a tough week one loss to Winner picking up a win over Parker in high school football action Friday night.

Brody Dybvig rushed for 233 yards as the Mustangs finished with 334 yards rushing on the night.

Parker’s Landon Wieman finished with 117 yards and a passing touchdown to Andrew Even. Michael Even led the Parker ground attack with 53 yards. Levi Wieman led the Parker defense with 15 tackles. 


Dakota Valley 21, Vermillion 0

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley played well on Friday to earn a win over Vermillion in high school football action. 

Jackson Boonstra paced the ground game with 119 yards and two touchdowns. Charlie Margeas added 84 yards rushing and a touchdown. Kade Kessler led the defense with 15 tackles while Emanual Kual had nine stops for the Panthers. 

Vermillion’s Ryne Chapman paced the Tanagers with 75 yards rushing while Hayden Christoherson added 24 yards on the ground. Christopherson also completed 11 passes for 64 yards. Rollie French led the Tanager defense with 14 tackles, one sack and 2.5 tackles for loss.

 

Sioux Valley 42, Sisseton 7

SISSETON — Sioux Valley scored 42 first-half points on their way to a win over Sisseton in high school football action Friday. 

Donovan Rose led the offense with 98 yards rushing and two touchdown runs. Boden Schiller added 86 yards on the ground with two touchdowns while also throwing a touchdown pass for the Cossacks. 

Ethan DeSpiegler and Hughin Current combined for 57 yards rushing to lead Sisseton. 


Tea Area 28, Huron 26

HURON — A late two-point conversion from Huron was no good as Tea Area held on for a football win on Friday night.

Riley Svande led the Titans with 82 yards rushing while Dawson Eimers added 69 yards and two touchdowns. Keegan DeYoung ran for 66 yards and a score for Tea Area. 

Huron quarterback Colton McNeil completed 16 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns. Gavin Moeding caught eight balls for 158 yards and a touchdown. CJ Gainey finished with 126 yards receiving while catching two touchdown passes. 

 

Jones County 56, Sunshine Bible Academy 6

MURDO — A bruising running attack helped the Jones County Coyotes power past Sunshine Bible Academy in high school football action Friday. 

Kaden Kinsley led the way with 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Bryer Kinsley finished with 113 yards rushing and a touchdown with Thad Kierl and Cooper Fedderson each scoring a touchdown. Bryer Kinsley also intercepted a pass for Jones County. 

No stats were reported for Sunshine Bible Academy.
