Hanson 2, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 0

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson swept Andes Central/Dakota Christian to win the Hanson Early Bird tourney title. The set scores were 25-22 and 25-23. 

Hanson’s Ava Doyle finished with six kills, three aces, two digs and one ace. Kylie Haiar added six kills, while Jazzy Campbell posted four kills and six digs. Cadence Jarding posted seven digs, while Jersey Kampshoff had 16 assists and three digs. 

For ACDC, Josie Brouwer finished with eight kills, two blocks and two aces. Halle Olson had seven kills and two digs. Syrianna Never Misses A Shot had eight digs and four assists. Madeline Derry added four assists. Mahpiya Irving posted five assists and six digs. 


Platte-Geddes 2, Freeman Academy/Marion 0

ALEXANDRIA — Platte-Geddes took down Freeman Academy/Marion in a sweep to take third place at the Hanson Early Bird tournament Thursday. The set scores were 27-25 and 25-23.

P-G’s Kolbi Hoffman had 18 assists and four digs, Kori VanDerWerff had eight kills and four digs, while Addison DeVries tallied six kills and four digs as well.

For FAM, Harli Ross dished out 17 assists, Kallie Johnson had seven kills and 10 digs, while Haily Stahl collected five kills, six digs, and four aces in the loss.


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 2, Wessington Springs 1

ALEXANDRIA — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket downed Wessington Springs in three sets to win the consolation championship at the Hanson Early Bird tournament. The set scores were 25-11, 10-25 and 25-17. 

Liz Boschee led Sanborn Central/Woonsocket with nine kills, two blocks and six digs. Kali Hofer had 14 assists, two digs and an ace. Kaylie Robinson chipped in with seven kills, seven digs and four aces. 

Mariah Messmer led Wessington Springs with two kills, a block, six assists and seven digs. Remie Roduner had 17 digs and two aces. 


Freeman 2, Avon 1

ALEXANDRIA — Freeman defeated Avon to take seventh place at the Hanson Early Bird tournament Thursday. The set scores were 25-18, 21-25, and 25-22.

For Freeman, Emily Mendel tallied 16 digs, six kills, and four aces, Vaida Ammann had five kills and 10 assists, while Rylee Law had four kills and three blocks in the win.

Avon’s Lila Vanderlei had 13 digs, Macy Voigt had two kills and six digs, Jordyn Voigt collected 11 digs, while Rilyn Thury had seven digs in the loss.


Menno 3, Centerville 2

MENNO — Menno took down Centerville in a five-set volleyball thriller Thursday. The set scores were 20-25, 25-22, 25-17, 11-25, and 15-4.

Ellyana Ulmer led with 31 digs, Lexie McNinch tallied 14 kills and five blocks, Joslynn Fischer collected 23 assists and nine digs, while Sam Allvin tallied 12 digs, 10 assists, six kills, and three blocks in the win. Taylor Freier had 14 digs while Haylee Hall had 16 digs as well.

For Centerville, Harper Wattier had 26 digs, Keira Austin had 21 assists and 15 digs, while Emma Marshall tallied 11 kills in the loss.

 

Burke 3, Colome 0

BURKE — Class B No. 4 Burke defeated Colome in a straight set sweep victory on Thursday. The set scores were 25-5, 25-10, and 25-6.

Emmie Hausman had 11 kills, Paige Bull tallied eight, while Kailee Frank and Addi Hood each tallied three kills. Hausman also led the team in digs with eight, Bridget Eliason dished 14 assists, while Ava Sargent tallied seven assists as well.

For Colome, Gracie Rohde collected six digs, while Keasha Kartak had three kills in the loss.

 

Wilmot 3, Waverly-South Shore 0

WILMOT — Wilmot swept Waverly-South Shore in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-12.

Wilmot’s Jada Cameron posted five kills, while Addison Heinje and Brooklyn Remund had three kills apiece. 

Waverly-South Shore stats were unavailable. 


Chester 3, Ethan 0

CHESTER — Class B No. 1 Chester earned a straight set victory over Ethan in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-10, 25-13, and 25-15.

Lily Van Hal led the Flyers with nine aces, 13 kills, and 17 assists. Jacy Wolf had four aces, 11 kills, and 10 assists. Gracie Huntimer also tallied 16 digs in the win.

For Ethan, Rachel Klock had 10 blocks, Marissa Storm had 15 digs and 5 kills, while Ashley Clawson tallied five more blocks in the loss.

 

Miller 3, Winner 1

MILLER — Class A No. 4 Miller topped Winner in four sets in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 20-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 27-25.

Miller’s Paige Werdel and Aleah Schlechter posted 15 kills apiece. Kaihlyn Anderberg had 11 kills. Olivia Resel dished out 53 assists and had an ace. Kate Lichty posted two aces. Jolie Palmer had 31 digs. Schlechter added 15 digs. Gracen Werdel had 10 digs, while Kate Lichty posted seven digs and two aces. 

Winner stats were unavailable.


Northwestern 3, Wolsey-Wessington 0

MELLETTE — Class B No. 3 Northwestern swept Wolsey-Wessington in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-21, 25-21 and 27-25. 

Northwestern’s Ashley Haven finished with three aces, 12 kills and 15 digs. Anna Brumfield added 11 kills. Ella Boekelheide logged 24 assists, had two aces and two blocks. Tara Blachford added 14 digs. 

For Wolsey-Wessington, Samara Clemente had13 kills and four blocks, while Tatum Luce and Timber Haeder had eight kills apiece. Haeder added 13 digs. Kendal Uttecht posted 20 assists and 14 digs. Shae Uttecht had 27 digs. 


Great Plains Lutheran 3, Florence-Henry 0

HENRY — Sioux Falls Lutheran swept Florence-Henry in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-18, 25-21 and 25-13. 

Leading Florence-Henry was Roean Raymer with seven kills. Rebecca Fleming finished with four kills, Anna Byer an ace and Ashlynn Vavruska an assist.

Great Plains Lutheran stats were unavailable.

Taryn Traphagen had seven kills and two blocks for Groton. Liz Fliehs had 16 assists and 12 digs. 


Tri-Valley 3, Parker 0

PARKER — Tri-Valley swept Parker in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-16, 26-24 and 25-11. 

Emery Person led Tri-Valley with 16 kills, 16 digs and two aces. Abagail Wagner dished out 36 assists and led with three aces. Emry Jones had 11 kills and five blocks while Macey Boese led with 24 kills. 

Leading Parker was Halle Berens with six kills and two blocks. Jenna Van Velzen added five kills with Paige Haase, Aleyska Petersen and Hannah Schaeffer each having two kills. 


Wagner 3, Vermillion 1

WAGNER — Wagner defeated Vermilion in four sets in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-13, 25-17, 23-25 and 25-11. 

Leading Wagner was Braxton Nedved who had 32 assists and 12 kills. Ravyn Medricky led with 14 kills and a block and Hannah Holzbauer added nine kills and 10 digs. Libby Kotab led with 19 digs.

Ciena Mount paced Vermillion with nine kills and 10 digs. Skyler Griese finished with 18 assists and two assisted blocks while Brooke VanDrongelen led with 14 kills. 


Hamlin 3, Groton 1

HAMLIN — Hamlin defeated Groton in three sets in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-17, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-22. 

Leading Hamlin was Addie Neuendorf had 15 kills, 24 digs a block. Izzy Steffensen had 32 assists and three aces and Jo Steffesen finished with 11 kills. Addie Steffensen finished with seven kills and 18 digs. 

Groton stats were unavailable. 


Aberdeen Roncalli 3, Redfield 0

REDFIELD — Aberdeen Roncalli earned a straight set sweep in volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-19, 25-18, and 25-18.

Roncalli’s Maddie Huber collected 20 assists, McKenna O’Keefe tallied 11 kills, while Ava Hanson had four more. Hanson also recorded four blocks in the victory. Rylee Voeller added 10 digs, while Hanson recorded eight as well.

For Redfield, Cecilia Suchor had six kills. Hayden Gall dished out 14 assists, while Charli Jungwirth and Kendyl Siebrecht each had eight digs in the loss.


Harrisburg 3, Brandon Valley 0

HARRISBURG — Class AA No. 1 Harrisburg opened their season with a straight set sweep of Brandon Valley in volleyball action Thursday.. The set scores were 25-13, 25-11 and 25-14

Harrisburg’s Gabi Zachariasen powered the Tigers with 18 kills and two blocks. Josalyn Samuels dished out 35 assists and contributed two aces. Maggie Miester led with 17 digs while Kennedy Kokenge finished with six kills and 11 digs. 

Leading Brandon Valley at the net was Kennedi Boomsma who had four blocks and three kills. Riya Sheley finished with ten assists and an ace and Mya VanWesten led with 10 digs.
