MITCHELL — JJ Farner threw a four-hit shutout as Winner/Colome advanced to the Class B state amateur baseball quarterfinals on Monday. 

Farner struck out three batters, allowed four hits and walked five batters on 136 pitches against their Sunshine League foes. 

Chandler Bakely had two hits and drove in a run. Drew DeMers, Austin Richey, Dillon Lambley, Austin Calhoon and Zach Harter each had hits. Richey and Calhoon drove in runs. 

For Mount Vernon, Chase Hetland, Bradley Dean, Koby Larson and Eric Giblin each had hits. Deric Denning took the loss after allowing seven hits, one earned run, four walks and struck out five batters.

Lesterville 14, Menno 1 (7 innings)

MITCHELL — Lesterville erupted for a pair of big innings to cruise past South Central League rival Menno at the Class B state amateur baseball tournament on Monday.

Tanner Van Driel finished with four hits and drove in a run. Michael Drotzmann recorded three hits and drove in four runs. Ethan Wishon added two hits and three RBI. Tyler Edler added two hits and two RBI. Cameron Schlitz logged two hits, while Bryant Knodel and Trent Herrboldt each had hits. 

Ethan Wishon earned the win after allowing one earned run on four hits and struck out five batters in five innings.

For Menno, Dylan Lehr, Jake Weier, Dustin Livingston and Macon Oplinger each had hits. Jamison Kleinsasser took the loss after allowing one earned run on five hits and walked two batters in his 3.2-inning start.
