Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 4, Menno Mad Frogs 2

MITCHELL — Logan Larsen tossed 12 strikeouts as the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks earned its first ever state tournament victory Thursday.

Larsen went all nine innings, allowing two runs on four hits, four walks, and two hit batters, striking out 12 batters.

The Wood Ducks scored all four runs in the top of the fifth, Braden Herr drove in a run on three hits and a walk, Brayden Odegaard tallied a two-RBI double, Brodie Herr, while Austin King, Dawson Bakker, and C McDonald each tallied hits in the win.

For Menno, Doug Hall allowed four runs on six hits and four walks in five innings, striking out two.

Ajay Herrboldt drove in a run on one hit, while Dylan Lehr, Spencer Schultz, and Conner Merriam each tallied hits in the loss.

Elk Point Colt 45s 7, Redfield Dairy Queen 1

MITCHELL — Elk Point pounded 14 hits as the Colt 45s moved on to the Round of 16 with a victory over Redfield Thursday.

Preston Fejfar batted 4-for-5, Cole Nachtigal tallied three hits, Jaxon Hennies tallied two hits, including a double, Hunter Ingwerson tallied three hits and two RBIs, Ashton Pick tallied an RBI-single, while Keaton Gale and Jay Thaler each drove in a run on a walk.

Jake Pruchniak allowed one run on six hits and three walks in five innings pitched, striking out seven.

For Redfield, Peyton Osborn allowed seven runs on 10 hits and two walks in six innings, striking out eight batters.

Cooper Hainy batted 3-for-5, Brent Osborn drove in a run on two hits and two walks, while Bennett Osborn, Peyton Osborn, Keaton Rohlfs, Christian DeYoung, Nathan Hainy, and Owen Osborn each tallied hits in the loss.

Dimock/Emery Raptors 7, Lake Norden Lakers 2

MITCHELL — Jason Schmidt drove in three runs as Dimock/Emery topped Lake Norden in the first round of the State B amateur tournament Thursday.

Schmidt batted 3-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs, Phil Johnson batted 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Sam Pischke drove in a run on two hits, Drew Kitchens had two hits, while Peyton Nash, Josh Engquist, and Chase Arend each had hits in the win.

Johnson earned the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on 10 hits, tossing seven strikeouts in eight innings.

For Lake Norden, Jordon Johnson took the loss allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk in 3.2 innings.

Mick Tulson tallied an RBI-single, Matt Stevenson drove in a run, Dawson Noem had two hits, while seven other batters tallied hits in the loss.

Dimock/Emery advances to the second round and will face Castlewood on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Castlewood Ravens 7, Tabor Bluebirds 5

MITCHELL — Kellan Benck drove in seven runs as Castlewood defeated Tabor in the opening round of the State B amateur tournament Thursday.

Benck batted 2-for-5 with a double, homer, and seven RBIs, Gus Steiger batted 4-for-5, Peyton Garbers had two hits, including a double, Alex Gauer and Booker Schooley each tallied a hit and two walks, while Adam Ching and Jacob Tvedt each had a hit in the win.

Benck earned the victory on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk in four innings, striking out three.

For Tabor, Jared Miller allowed seven runs on 12 hits and six walks in eight innings, striking out 15 batters.

Chase Kortan added four hits, Brady Bierema collected three more, Beau Rothschadl drove in two runs on two hits, Sam Caba had an RBI on two hits, while Hunter Hallock and Zach Sutera each drove in a run on one hit.

Castlewood advances to the second round and will face Dimock/Emery on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
