FARGO, N.D. — Several weeks ago Bennett County eighth-grader Peyson O’Neill received an invitation to compete in a 300-meter hurdles race in North Dakota.

The 300-meter hurdle event was a special event and athletes received an invite only to participate.

On Thursday, O’Neill delivered a meet record and a time of :44.22. That time is the eighth fastest for the 300-meter hurdles in South Dakota history.

O’Neill’s special invite allowed her to bring several teammates, so siblings Reagan and Rush, along with the Bennett County 400-meter relay team also participated.

Reagan O’Neill, a freshman, won the 100-meter dash (:12.04) and the long jump (18-00). Thursday marked the first time Reagan O’Neill had been on the track for the Warriors this season.

Rush O’Neill, a sophomore, won the high jump (6-06) and the 100-meter dash (:11.07).

The Bennett County quartet of Peyson O’Neill, Macy Claussen, Harley Harris and Reagan O’Neill won the 400-meter relay in a meet record time of :49.03.
