Chamberlain girls, Freeman Academy/Marion boys win McCook Central/Montrose Invitational

SALEM — The Chamberlain girls and Freeman Academy/Marion boys captured team titles at Tuesday’s McCook Central/Montrose Invitational. 

The Chamberlain girls finished with 10 points, finishing ahead of Flandreau (15) for the team title at the McCook Country Club. The Freeman Academy/Marion boys recorded nine points, ahead of Flandreau (22) for the team championship.

Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans covered the 5,000-meter distance in 19-minutes and :20.82 seconds, finishing ahead of Flandreau’s Faith Wiese (19:48.88). Kimball/White Lake’s Autumn Baker (20:54.97), Dell Rapids’ Rorie Thoreson (21:06.20) and Chamberlain’s Kylah Biggins (21:12.65) rounded out the top-five runners.

Freeman Academy/Marion’s Tavin Schroeder was the boys individual winner, covering the 5,000 meters in 16:55.16. Winner’s Joseph Laprath (17:24.11) and Freeman Academy/Marion’s Finley McConniel (17:26.21) finished second and third, respectively. Howard’s Caden Schwader (18:19.84) and Baltic’s Alex Langner (18:50.44) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
