AVON — The Chamberlain girls and Viborg-Hurley girls won team titles at Thursday’s Avon Invitational.
The Chamberlain girls racked up 155 points, ahead of Avon (115) and Wagner (108). Wessington Springs (92) and Tripp-Delmont/Armour (56) rounded out the top five teams.
The VIborg-Hurley boys scored 178 points, well ahead of Avon (95) and Wagner (108). Wessington Springs (92) and Tripp-Delmont/Armour (56) rounded out the top five boys teams.
For Chamberlain, Kylah Biggins won the 800-meter run (2:33.83), Grace Phillips won the 3,200-meter run (11:58.25). Biggins and Phillips, along with Sasha Van Den Bosch and Slivana Houska won the 3,200-meter relay (10:51.02).
Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal won the shot put (35-07) and high jump (5-04).
Wessington Springs senior Bailey Yost won the 100-meter hurdles (:17.98) and 300-meter hurdles (:53.35). Kenzie Koulousek won the 400–meter dash (1:02.49) and the Spartans claimed relay titles in the 800-meter relay (1:56.86), the 1,600-meter relay (4:28.55) and the sprint medley relay (5:17.63).
Other winners for the girls were Bon Homme’s Taycee Ranek in the 100-meter dash (:13.63), Wagner’s Addison Cuka in the 200-meter dash (:28.85), Bon Homme’s Claire Guthmiller in the 1,600-meter run (5:57.98), Avon’s Kaeli Wallinga in the discus (120-05), Viborg-Hurley’s Olivia Hanson in the javelin (111-03), Avon’s Raegan Brandt in the long jump (14-02) and Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Lyndsey Chessmore in the triple jump (34-00).
Bon Homme won the 400-meter relay (:54.58).
In boys action Viborg-Hurley’s Jacob Graves won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.31) and 300-meter hurdles (:43.14). Viborg-Hurley’s Godwin Johnson won the triple jump (41-05.5) and teammate Lincoln Mansfield won the javelin (133-11).
The Viborg-Hurley boys won the 400-meter relay (:46.84), 800-meter relay (1:35.39) and 1,600-meter relay (3:43.41).
Avon’s Aziah Meyer won the 100-meter dash (:11.60) and 200-meter dash (:24.22). Pirate junior Al Gunter won the discus (149-07).
Wagner’s Gary Bartunek won the 1,600-meter run (5:09.53) and 3,200-meter run (11:07.82).
Other winners for the boys were Wessington Springs’ Will Grohs in the 400-meter dash (:57.83), Chamberlain’s Sam Byers in the 800-meter run (2:14.79), Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s AJ Johnson in the shot put (47-10), Wessington Springs’ Ryder Michalek in the high jump (5-10) and Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Jamian Medicine Horn in the long jump (19-11.75).
Tripp-Delmont/Armour won the 3,200-meter relay (9:26.60) and Wessington Springs won the sprint medley relay (3:51.39).
