WEBSTER — The Milbank boys and Clark/Willow Lake girls claimed titles at Wednesday’s Region 1A cross-country meet.
The Milbank boys cruised to the team title, scoring 13 points and finishing well ahead of second-place teams Deuel and Clark/Willow Lake, both with 62 points. Aberdeen Roncalli (65) and Great Plains Lutheran (70) rounded out the top-five teams.
The Clark/Willow Lake girls scored 25 points, edging Milbank (30) and Aberdeen Roncalli (39) for the team title. Deuel (64) and Florence-Henry (88) rounded out the top-five teams.
Individually, Milbank’s Payton Brown won the 5,000-meter run, covering the distance at Webster Golf Course in 16 minutes and :36.04 seconds. Tri-State’s Kaleb Foltz (17:14.73) and Milbank’s James Batchelor (17:45.75) placed second and third, respectively. Milbank’s Bryan Meyer (18:00.60) and Isaach Graham (18:20.49) rounded out the top-five finishers.
Milbank’s Ashlynn Batchelor won the girls race, clocking in at 19:12.60. Clark/Willow Lake’s Kamryn Nesheim (19:59.14) and Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan (20:18.91) finished second and third, respectively. Clark/Willow Lake’s Cadence Bochek (20:20.30) and Aberdeen Roncalli’s Addison Cassady (20:27.66) rounded out the top-five runners.
