A few tune up meets before the Howard Wood Dakota Relays with a number of Class AA boys schools ready for what could be a record-breaking weekend. 

Aberdeen Central distance standout Josh Martin had a nice week. The senior dropped his 800-meter run time by nine seconds (1:56.72) and is ranked No. 2 in that event. Martin has the third fastest Class AA 1,600 meter run (4:24.77) and has the third fastest 3,200 meters (9:41.45). 

The Rapid City Stevens boys seemed to have a good week with sprinter Julian Scott clocking :10.80 in the 100-meter dash. The Raiders have the No. 3 - No. 5 ranked athletes in the 400-meter run: Simeon Birnbaum, :49.89, Julian Scott, Rapid City Stevens, :50.92, Alex Otten, Rapid City Stevens, :50.98. The Raiders lowered their state leading 400-meter relay time( :43.23) and are now one of three teams (Brandon Valley and Yankton) to run the 800-meter relay in sub 1:30 territory (1:29.92). Class AA shot put leader Jason Maciejczak, of Douglas, with a throw of 59-5, now also has the state’s best discus throw (169-02). 

Keep an eye on Watertown sophomores Juven Hudson and Owen Spartz. Hudson, a triple jumper, got out to 43-10 this week to go from unranked to No. 2 in the event. Spartz, the top prep pole vaulter in South Dakota improved his season's best from 14-06 to 15-00
