Class B Girls Roundup - Ethan claims third-place finish at state tourney

Ethan 67, Lyman 42

RAPID CITY — Ethan captured third place at the Class B girls basketball tournament on Saturday.

Ethan’s Marissa Storm logged 22 points, five 3-pointers and four assists. Ava Lingemann added 16 points and nine assists. Ella Pollreisz recorded nine points and five assists. Leah Klock had eight points and six rebounds. Rachel Klock totaled seven points and five rebounds. Madeline Bartscher had five points and five rebounds.

Lyman’s Mak Scott posted 15 points, while Brooke Palmer added nine points and six rebounds. Skyler Volmer had eight points and eight rebounds. McKenzie Laverdure had six points. 


James Valley Christian 56, Warner 50

RAPID CITY — Alexa Goertz and Kaylie Robinson combined for 39 points as James Valley Christian slipped past Warner to claim seventh place at the Class B tournament Saturday. 

Goertz, a junior, made four 3-pointers on her way to 25 points, four rebounds and two assists. 

Robinson made two 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Addison Bartholow added eight points for JVC. 

Kyra Marcuson led Warner with 14 points, 11 coming from the charity stripe. Lauren Marcuson added 11 points and Ava Nilsson chipped in with 14 points and five rebounds. 


Wall 60, Harding County 51

RAPID CITY — Three seniors wrapped up their high school basketball careers by reaching double figures as Wall defeated Harding county to claim fifth place at the 2023 state B tournament. 

Paige Kjerstad finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Nora Dinger hit a pair of 3-pointers and garnered 14 points, a rebound and two assists. Rhea Tucker chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists. 

Macey Wendt led the Ranchers with 10 points. Bailey Verhulst added eight points, three rebounds and five assists. Kaylen Padden eight points and three assists. Jaylen Wendt added six points and 11 rebounds.
