Deuel girls, Sioux Valley boys claim titles at Estelline Alumni Meet

ESTELLINE — The Deuel girls and Sioux Valley boys earned team titles at Tuesday’s Estelline Alumni Meet. 

The Deuel girls recorded 111 points, finishing ahead of Sioux Valley (99) and Deubrook Area (83). The Sioux Valley boys amassed 123 points, holding off Deuel (116) and Elkton-Lake Benton (112) for the title. 

In boys action, Sioux Valley’s Mitchell Guthmiller won the 800-meter run (2:10.57), edging teammate Brock Christopherson (2:10.60). Skylar Trygstad won the 3,200-meter run (10:51.55). 

Sioux Valley’s Donovan Rose won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.64), 300-meter hurdles (:42.35), placed second in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash (:23.66). 

Deuel’s Oliver Fieber won the 100-meter dash (:11.23) and 200-meter dash (:23.25). Fieber ran the lead leg on Deuel’s winning 400-meter relay (:46.42) and 800-meter relay (1:35.71). 

Deuel’s Robert Begalka won the shot put (48-6.75) and discus (139-11). 

De Smet’s George Jensen won the triple jump (41-4.75) and finished second in the high jump (5-10). 

Deubrook Area’s Jake Jorenby won the high jump (6-2) and placed second in the triple jump (41-3.5). 

Castlewood’s Lane Tvedt won the long jump (21-0) and placed third in the triple jump (41-2.5). 

The Deubrook Area boys won the 1,600-meter relay (3:34.11), 3,200-meter relay (8:52.81) and sprint medley relay (4:06.77). 

In girls action, Deuel’s Josie Andersen won the javelin (102-4) and teammate Makia Moe won the pole vault (10-0). The Deuel girls won the 400-meter relay (:55.46). 

Arlington’s Chloe Raw was a double winner in the 100-meter dash (:12.14), 200-meter dash (:25.40) and placed second in the long jump (16-9.75). 

In the 1,600-meter run, Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker (5:16.77) topped Flandreau’s Faith Wiese (5:19.39). 

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Hadlee Holt won the shot put (38-5.5) and placed second in the discus (104-10). 

Estelline/Hendricks’ Sadie Johnson won the long jump (17-0) and finished second in the pole vault (9-6).
