Ethan/Parkston sweeps team titles at Buck Timmins Memorial track and field meet

PARKSTON — Ethan/Parkston swept team titles at Thursday’s Buck Timmins Memorial track and field meet. 

The Ethan/Parkston girls recorded 149 points, finishing ahead of Chamberlain (136) and Platte-Geddes (80).

The Ethan/Parkston boys logged 132 points, ahead of Platte-Geddes (110) and Wagner (69). 

In boys action, Ethan/Parkston finished first-through-third in the 100-meter dash. Mark Deckert placed first with a :11.19, followed by Maddux Brissette (:11.25) and Connor Prunty (:11.35). Brissette won the 400-meter dash (:51.66). 

Deckert, James Deckert, Brissette and Prunty teamed up to win the 400-meter relay (:43.90). James Deckert added a first-place finish in the long jump (21-3.25). 

In the 200-meter dash, Platte-Geddes’ Carson Vanden Berge won with a :22.75, followed by teammates Skyler Hanten (:23.10) and Braxton Breukelman (:24.06).  

Quincy Stephens, Hayden Sprik, Vanden Berge and Hanten teamed up to win the 800-meter relay (1:32.36). 

Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman won the 800-meter run (2:02.08), followed by teammate Luke Mentele (2:05.21). Holdeman (10:42.01) and Mentele (10:49.22) also finished first and second, respectively, in the 3,200-meter run. 

Kimball/White Lake’s Park Sinclair earned a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter run (4:42.07). 

Chamberlain’s Canyon Burkard won the discus (146-3) and placed third in the shot put (44-4.25). Chamberlain’s Cruz Soulek won the javelin (151-1). 

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Jeffery Boschee cleared 6-6 in the high jump, which is tied for the top mark in Class A. Teammate Cody Slykhuis won the triple jump (41-6). 

Platte-Geddes’ Jack Ringling won the shot put (47-10.5) and teammate Parker Bailey won the pole vault (12-7). Bailey added a second-place finish in the triple jump (41-2.5). 

The Wessington Springs boys won the 1,600-meter relay (3:36.52) and 3,200-meter relay (8:49.48). 

In girls action, Ethan/Parkston’s Rachel Klock won the 100-meter dash (:13.38) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:28.76). Klock also ran the anchor leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:55.06). 

Ethan/Parkston’s Leah Klock won the 400-meter dash (1:00.89).

Ethan/Parkston’s Lauren Ziebart won the long jump (17-0), followed by teammates Berkley Ziebart (15-8.5) and Rory Juhnke (15-3.75). Juhnke added a first-place finish in the triple jump (33-11.5), followed by teammate Verity Thomas (30-11.75). 

The Ethan/Parkston girls also won the 800-meter relay (1:52.72) and sprint medley relay (4:22.51). 

Chamberlain’s Silvana Houska won the 800-meter run (2:32.33) 

Chamberlain’s Kinsey Evans earned a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter run (5:15.80), finishing ahead of teammate Kylah Biggins (5:39.44). Evans also won the 3,200-meter run (11:18.12), ahead of teammate Grace Phillips (12:02.31). 

The Chamberlain quartet of Evans, Houska, Phillips and Biggins won the 3,200-meter relay (10:05.67).

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Elizabeth Boschee captured first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.27), 300-meter hurdles (:50.42) and javelin (118-10). Boschee added a second-place finish in the high jump (4-7). 

Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal cleared 5-3 to win the high jump title. 

Chamberlain’s Tobi Peterson won the shot put (39-2), placed third in the discus (104-4) and javelin (105-8). 

Scotland’s Trinity Bietz placed first in the discus (111-8) and placed third in the shot put (39-2).

Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth won the shot put (38-11.75).
