Ethan/Parkston teams sweep titles at Ethan/Parkston Early Bird meet

PARKSTON — Ethan/Parkston won team titles at Tuesday’s Ethan/Parkston Early Bird meet. 

The Ethan/Parkston boys finished with 133 points, ahead of Hanson (101) and Winner (82). The Ethan/Parkston girls recorded 181 points, ahead of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (84) and Mount Vernon/Plankinton (68). 

In boys action, Ethan/Parkston’s Mark Deckert won the 200-meter dash (:24.05) and 100-meter dash (11:49). Kolter Kramer won the 400-meter dash (:52.68) and James Deckert won the long jump (22-9) for Ethan/Parkston.

The quartet of Parker Sanderson, Brycen Bruening, Mason Jervik and Mark Deckert won the 800-meter relay (1:34.25).

Mitchell Christian’s Luke Mentele won the 1,600-meter run (4:47.74) and placed second in the 800-meter run (2:10.58). 

Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman won the 3,200-meter run (10:40.98) and finished second in the 1,600-meter run (4:56.75). 

Winner’s Shawn Hammerbeck won the discus (145-0) and finished second in the javelin (140-11). 

McCook Central/Montrose’s Jackson Schmidt won the shot put (43-10.5) and placed fourth in the discus (123-7).

Hanson’s Radek Jarding placed first in the javelin (143-0), Wagner’s Shea Kjeldgaard won the high jump (6-0), Madison’s Henry Meyer won the pole vault (12-6) and Jesse Zephier won the triple jump (41-3). 

Winner’s Austin Blare won the 110-meter hurdles (:17.22) and MVP’s Cole Sandland won the 300-meter hurdles (:44.38). 

The Hanson boys won the 400-meter relay (45:47), 1,600-meter relay (3:34.49) and sprint medley relay (4:04.38). 

In girls action, Ethan/Parkston’s Rory Juhnke won the 200-meter dash (:29.62) and triple jump (34-3.75). Ella Pollreisz won the 1,600-meter run (5:58.23). 

Ethan/Parkston won the 400-meter relay (:53.45), 1,600-meter relay (4:18.40) and 3,200-meter relay (10:32.63). In the long jump, Ethan/Parkston’s Lauren Ziebart (16-11) and Berkley Ziebart (16-8.5) finished first and second, respectively. Lauren Ziebart won the 100-meter dash (:13.12). 

Wessington Springs’ Kenzie Kolousek won the 400-meter dash (1:00.19) and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Macey Beigh won the 800-meter run (2:54.85).  

Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Abigail Engelland won the 3,200-meter run (12:39.91) and was on the winning sprint medley relay (4:38.22). 

Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Reagan Rus won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.72) and 300-meter hurdles (:47.14). 

Winner’s Jenaya Schrader won the shot put (35-10), Hanson’s Olivia Kayser won the discus (116-1) and Madison’s Karstyn Miller won the pole vault (8-6).

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Elizabeth Boschee won the javelin (121-1) and high jump (5-4).

Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal placed second in the high jump (5-4) and second in the shot put (34-0).
