Mount Vernon/Plankinton 72, McCook Central/Montrose 38

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Emilee Fox poured in 28 points in a season-opening victory over McCook Central/Montrose on Tuesday. 

Reagan Rus added 14 points and Maria Baker tossed in 13 points. 

McCook Central/Montrose’s Abby Wagner scored eight points and Ashtyn Wobig scored seven points. 



Parkston 59, Avon 45

PARKSTON -- Three players scored in double figures to pace Parkston to a girls basketball win over Avon on Tuesday. 

Allison Ziebart led the way with 20 points, four steals, three assists and two rebounds. Gracie Oakley added 15 points and three assists. Abby Hohn added 14 points and six rebounds. Brielle Bruening contributed nine points and six rebounds. 

Avon’s Courtney Sees scored 13 points and Katie Gretschmann tossed in 10 points. Tiffany Pelton added nine points and eight boards. 

 

Sully Buttes 67, Ipswich 33

IPSWICH -- Stevie Wittler tossed in 28 points in a season-opening win for the Sully Buttes girls basketball team on Tuesday. 

Wittler added five steals, three assists and three rebounds. Allyson Wittler netted 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. Calleigh Chicoine added 10 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds. Lydia Hill and Addison Chicoine had six points apiece. 

Ipswich’s Katie Bierman and Quincy Olivier scored 11 points apiece. Olivier collected eight rebounds and Bierman had three boards. Karlie Gohl finished with nine points and six rebounds. 


Bridgewater-Emery 39, Scotland 17

EMERY -- Bridgewater-Emery topped Scotland in girls basketball action on Tuesday. 

Julia Weber led the Huskies with 19 points and six rebounds. Chloe Schmitt added eight points and five boards. 


Centerville 69, Canistota 26

CENTERVILLE -- Lillie Eide and Thea Gust combined for 39 points as Centerville earned their first girls basketball win of the season Tuesday. 

Eide led all scorers with 20 points while adding six steals. Gust added 19 points with Mikayla Heesch reaching double figures with ten points. Bailey Hansen finished with seven points and eight rebounds while Keira Austin added seven points. 

Canistota was led in scoring by Natalie Becker, Bailey Spicer and Kayla Panendick who all finished with six points apiece. 


Dakota Valley 54, Lennox 41

NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Rylee Rosenquist and Peyton Tritz combined for 41 points to power Dakota Valley to a girls basketball win over Lennox on Tuesday. 

Rosenquist finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds and six steals. Tritz tossed in 16 points, while Grace Bass added eight rebounds and three assists. 

Lennox’s Andie Peters finished with 11 points, while Dani Highum collected seven rebounds. 

 

Wolsey-Wessington 55, Wessington Springs 46

WESSINGTON SPRINGS -- Leah Williams logged a double-double to power Wolsey-Wessington to a girls basketball win over Wessington Springs on Tuesday. 

Williams posted 20 points and 10 boards. Faith Nelson added 12 points and four rebounds. Hailey Clarke finished with eight points and three rebounds. Mya Williams contributed six points and four rebounds. Macie Luce logged four points, three rebounds and six assists. 

Carissa Scheel led the Spartans with 12 points and seven rebounds. Kirstie Munsen and Avery Orth logged 11 points apiece. Munsen added six rebounds and four assists. Harlee Heim recorded five points and six rebounds, while Alyssa Grohs finished with four points and six rebounds. 


Milbank 62, Tiospa Zina 23

MILBANK -- Maurina Street poured in 23 points to power Milbank to a girls basketball win over Tiospa Zina on Tuesday.

Street added six rebounds and four assists. Isabella Anderson added 14 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Claire Snaza recorded eight points and five boards. Tyra Berry and Tatum Berry had five points and three assists apiece. 

Tiospa Zina’s Alexia Quinn scored 10 points and dished out three assists. 


Freeman Academy/Marion 47, Sunshine Bible Academy 15

MILLER -- Jada Koerner and Alivea Weber combined for 34 points in Freeman Academy/Marion’s girls basketball win over Sunshine Bible Academy on Tuesday. 

Koerner had 20 points, five steals and four rebounds. Weber tossed in 14 points, while Estelle Waltner finished with eight points and five rebounds. Alexa Gortmaker had four points and four steals. 

SBA’s Jakki Burma had seven points, three rebounds and two steals. 


Elkton-Lake Benton 40, Estelline-Hendricks 36

ELKTON -- Elkton-Lake Benton edged Estelline-Hendricks in girls basketball action on Tuesday. 

Aubrey Schindler led the Elks with eight points, while Emily Robbins, Rachael Krog and Kylie Ramlo had seven points apiece. Tevan Erickson posted six points and Kailyn Drietz netted five points. Drietz hauled in nine rebounds, while Erickson collected six rebounds and three steals. 

Estelline-Hendricks’ Kate Wegner had 10 points. Sadie Johnson netted nine points and Kenzy Beare tossed in seven points. 


Tri-State 57, Wilmot 27

WILMOT -- Nora Braun pumped in 25 points in Tri-State’s girls basketball win over Wilmot on Tuesday. 

Mary Rupp added 12 points and Kallie Grefsrud scored eight points. Shali Lawrence finished with six points. 

Wilmot’s Madeline Remund scored 16 points. Ashlyn Ebben and Marissa Getzlaff had six and five points, respectively. 


Howard 55, Arlington 47

ARLINGTON -- Three players reached double figures in girls basketball action as Howard earned a win on Tuesday. 

Kate Conner led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds. Abby Aslesen had 11 points, 15 rebounds and three assists. Rylee Rudebusch added 11 points while contributing five steals. Canyon Kidd and Trinity Palmquist combined for 13 points and nine rebounds. 

Hadley Carlson led Arlington with 14 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Addalyn Steffensen added 12 points and ten rebounds for the Cardinals. 


Florence/Henry 62, Deuel 27

CLEAR LAKE -- Three players reached double figures as Florence/Henry picked up a season opening win Tuesday night. 

Trinity Watson led all scorers with 18 points. Caylin Kelly added 17 points with sophomore Taylor Watson chipping in 10 points. 

Deuel was led by Harley Hennings who scored nine points while pulling down five rebounds. Haley Winter added eight points while Kaitlyn Gubrud and Josie Anderson combined for nine rebounds. 


Huron 46, Yankton 43

HURON — Huron had two players in double figures to lead the Tigers to a girls basketball win over Yankton Tuesday at the Huron Arena. 

Heaven Gainey scored 15 points to lead Huron while Hamtyn Heinz added 14 points. 

Ellie Karolevitz led Yankton with 14 points.
