Jan. 17 Boys Basketball Roundup - No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln improves to 8-0 with win over Huron

Sioux Falls Lincoln 71, Huron 61

HURON — Class AA No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln improved to 8-0 with a boys basketball win over Huron on Friday. The Patriots nailed 11 3-pointers. 

Lincoln’s Sam DeGroot finished with a game-high 22 points and had three 3-pointers. Brody Schafer had 14 points and four assists. Deondre Painter scored 11 points and hit three 3-pointers. Edison Noll logged 10 points, four assists and three rebounds. Sam Ericsson had four points, four rebounds and three assists. Luke Krempges posted five points and eight boards.

For Huron, Anderson Porisch finished with 19 points and six rebounds. Blake Ellwein tallied 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Ty Kleinsasser recorded 16 points and hit five 3-pointers. 


Stanley County 67, Crazy Horse 32

MURDO — Stanley County rolled past Crazy Horse for a boys basketball win at Friday’s Jones County Invitational. Stanley County plays Kadoka Area in the JCI championship game on Jan. 18. 

Stanley County’s Eddie Duffy tossed in 22 points and Kaden Montana added 19 points. Paxton Deal scored 15 points. Teegyn Breitag had five points.

For Crazy Horse, Devaughn Between Lodges scored 19 points and Donnie Ghost Dog had six points. 


Kadoka Area 63, Lyman 39

MURDO — Three players scored in double figures to pace Kadoka Area to a boys basketball win at Friday’s Jones County Invitational. Kadoka Area plays Stanley County in the JCI championship game on Jan. 18. 

Kadoka Area’s Gus Stout scored 18 points and Kole Hermann added 12 points. Karson Eisenbraun had 10 points.

Lyman stats were not available. 


Bennett County 53, Philip 43

MURDO — Bennett County topped Philip in boys basketball action at Friday’s Jones County Invitational.

Bennett County’s Rush O’Neill finished with a game-high 21 points. Caysen Soderlin added 10 points and Hayden Risse scored nine points.

For Philip, Christopher Lurz scored 17 points and Weston Reedy added 10 points. Talan Haynes scored nine points.


Ipswich 47, Waubay/Summit 42

WAUBAY — Three players scored in double figures during Ipswich’s high school boys basketball victory over Waubay/Summit

Kyle Hettich and Max Kulesa each tallied 14 points, Jaxon Holt added 11 points, while Hayden Schlosser and Tucker Kadlec each had three points in the win.

WS’s Hogan Hlavacek recorded 11 points, Dylan Rumpza added 10 points, while Camden and Traveion Neilan each totaled nine points in the loss.


Ethan 58, Canistota 46

CANISTOTA — Three players scored in double figures during Ethan’s high school boys basketball victory over Canistota Friday.

Braedon Nebelsick recorded 16 points and three rebounds for the Rustlers, Jack Bartscher added 12 points and three rebounds, Davin Hohn had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists, Jaxx Kurtenbach totaled seven points and five rebounds, while Creighton Klumb collected six points in the win.

Canistota’s Brady Scott tallied a game-high 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists, Blaise Showers added eight points and two steals, while Jaden Kleinsasser and Easton Miller each had six points in the loss.


Jones County 40, White River 37

MURDO — Jones County outlasted White River in boys basketball action at Friday’s Jones County Invitational.

Jones County’s Asa Best tossed in 14 points. Jace Nix and Dawson Hunt scored eight points apiece. Adrik Schoon logged six points.

For White River, Teagen Bouman scored a game-high 18 points. Bryson One Star had 12 points on four 3-pointers. Jaxon Krogman scored five points.


Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 64, Lakota Tech 57

PINE RIDGE — Easton Lawrence and Damien Clown combined for 30 points to power Cheyenne-Eagle Butte to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Lawrence finished with 18 points and Clown scored 12 points.

For Lakota Tech, DJ Ross scored 13 points and Robert Left Hand Bull added 12 points. 


Clark/Willow Lake 59, Deuel 36

WILLOW LAKE — Sully Felberg’s 25-point burst lifted Clark/Willow Lake over Deuel Friday.

Felberg tallied 25 points and six rebounds, Bo Begeman had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Emmerson Larson tallied nine points, four rebounds and a block in the win.

For Deuel, Gabe Sather tallied 15 points and two rebounds, Troy Jenson totaled 10 points and three rebounds, while Sutton Beck collected four points in the loss.


Gregory 96, Burke 20

GREGORY — Four players scored in double figures to pace Gregory to a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Lincoln Juracek scored 20 points, while Jackson Bolander added 16 points. Noah Bearshield scored 13 points and Rane Kenzy added 11 points. 

For Burke, Jayder Schoenbaum had six points. 


Flandreau 60, Madison 46

FLANDREAU — Three players scored in double figures during Flandreau’s boys basketball victory over Madison Friday.

Luke Sheppard led the Fliers with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, Alexavier Poitra tallied 13 points while Paul Parsley tallied 11 points and six rebounds in the win.

Madison’s Ben Brooks recorded 24 points in the loss.


Elkton-Lake Benton 71, Arlington 24

ARLINGTON — Tanner Drietz powered Elkton-Lake Benton to a high school boys basketball victory Friday.

Drietz finished with 18 points and five rebounds, Colt Beck tallied 10 points and two steals, Eliot Erickson scored seven points, six rebounds and three assists, Tanner Stein added seven points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Joseph Nibbe and Teigan Krog each had six points in the win.

Arlington’s Paxton Rheault totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss while Miles Antonen added five points and nine rebounds as well.


Upton (Wyo.) 51, Hot Springs 47

HOT SPRINGS — Hot Springs dropped a four-point decision against Upton, Wyoming, at the West River Tournament on Friday. 

Hot Springs’ Aidyn Janis finished with 18 points and hit three 3-pointers. Jaydon Koffler scored 16 points and hit three 3-pointers. McCoy Rippentrop had eight points. 

Rhett Watt had 16 points for Upton.


Mitchell 59, Brookings 33

MITCHELL — Markus Talley’s 20-point burst lifted Class AA No. 2 Mitchell past Brookings Friday.

Talley recorded 20 points, six rebounds and three steals, Gavin Hinker totaled 12 points, eight rebounds and two assists, Colton Smith collected 11 points, five rebounds and four steals, while Landen Soulek  and Parker Mandel each had five points in the win.

Brookings’ Bergan Tetzlaff tallied 10 points and six rebounds, Brodie McCarty had eight points, while Johnathan Kahler totaled six points in the loss.


Rapid City Central 58, Spearfish 35

RAPID CITY — Gilbert White’s 26-point performance lifted Rapid City Central over Spearfish in high school boys basketball action Friday.

White totaled 26 points, seven rebounds and four steals, Junior Allen collected 11 points, Kaden Mathieu tallied eight points, while Sean Smith cracked five points in the win.

Spearfish’s Teigen Wormstadt tallied seven points and five rebounds, Hayden Rock collected six points and two rebounds, while Dalyn Dschaak added five points in the loss.
