Jan. 25 Boys Basketball Roundup - Clark/Willow Lake outlasts Lennox at Hanson Classic

Clark/Willow Lake 58, Lennox 55 

MITCHELL — Four players scored in double figures to pace Clark/Willow Lake to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic. 

CWL’s Bo Begeman finished with 15 points and six rebounds, while Emmerson Larson added 15 points and four rebounds. Sullivan Felberg logged 12 points and eight boards, while Chris Bevers had 15 points, six rebounds and four steals. 

For Lennox, Tate Gerdes recorded 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three 3-pointers. Layton Smith tallied 14 points and eight rebounds. Boston Katzer had seven points and five rebounds. Aiden Hanssen and Teegen Musser scored five points apiece. 

Hamlin 71, Rapid City Christian 59 

MITCHELL — Three players scored in double figures as Class A No. 2 Hamlin defeated Class A No. 3 Rapid City Christian at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Hamlin’s Evan Stormo tallied 22 points and five rebounds. Easton Neuendorf tallied 18 points, nine assists and three rebounds. Zac VanMeeteren logged six points and 10 boards. Dawson Noem had five points and nine rebounds. 

For Rapid City Christian, Benson Kieffer recorded 21 points and four rebounds. Simon Kieffer recorded 17 points, five rebounds and four steals. Wes Schlabach, Sully Kieffer and Julius Frog had six points apiece.


Dell Rapids St. Mary 68, Parkston 59

MITCHELL — Class B No. 2 Dell Rapids St. Mary pulled away from Parkston for a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

DRSM’s Trevon Beckman poured in 29 points and grabbed four rebounds. Maverick LeBrun added 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Jake Kopsas added 11 points. Jaxon Baumberger had six points and four rebounds. Trimmier Hanson scored five points.

For Parkston, James Deckert scored 17 points. Mason Jervik added 13 points, four rebounds and four assists. Brycen Bruening had 11 points and five boards. Grady Bowar logged nine points on three 3-pointers. Reco Muilenburg had five points and five rebounds.


St. Thomas More 62, Dakota Valley 54

MITCHELL — Four players scored in double figures to pace St. Thomas More to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

STM’s Ashton Paulsen finished with 20 points, while Broeden Sales added 15 points. Max Speed tallied 10 points and 15 rebounds. Baron Slusarski had 10 points and three rebounds. Wyatt Olson totaled five points, five assists and eight rebounds. 

For Dakota Valley, Logan Collette finished with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Luke Bruns tallied 15 points and five rebounds. Tatum Sorensen had eight points and 11 rebounds. Tyler Cornelson and Drew Lukken scored five points apiece. 


Hanson 68, Leola/Frederick Area 64

MITCHELL — Hanson outlasted Class B No. 4 Leola/Frederick Area in a seesaw boys basketball game at Saturday’s Hanson Classic. The game featured seven ties and seven lead changes.

Hanson’s Ty Hernandez finished with 20 points, six 3-pointers and five assists. Ben Wilber added 13 points, six assists and five rebounds. A.J. Wilber posted 13 points, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers. Sutton Dewald logged 13 points, six assists and five rebounds. Carter Popp posted four points and three rebounds for Hanson, which nailed 12 3-pointers. 

For Leola/Frederick Area, Noah Kippley piled up 33 points, eight rebounds, five 3-pointers and three steals. Ethan Petrich added seven points and 10 rebounds. Milo Sumption had seven points and seven rebounds. Westyn Thorpe recorded six points. Titus Kippley had three points and seven boards.


Viborg-Hurley 49, Castlewood 44

MITCHELL — In a heavyweight battle at the boys Hanson Classic Saturday, Class B No. 3 Viborg-Hurley upends Class B No. 1 Castlewood.

For VH, Brayden Morrison led all scorers with 17 points and two steals, shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc, Nick Hanson added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Brady Schoedermeier and Owen Niederbaumer each added seven points in the win.

Castlewood’s Bryon Laue tallied a game-high 19 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks, Jamison Keszler added 13 points and four steals, while Kamden Keszler had six points, three steals and two assists in the loss.


Mobridge-Pollock 55, Sioux Valley 41

MITCHELL — Shane Henderson and Shooter Frederick logged double-doubles to power Mobridge-Pollock to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Hanson Classic.

Frederick recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds, four 3-pointers and three blocks. Henderson tallied 12 points, 20 rebounds and four assists. Easton Eisemann scored 12 points. Jackson Eisemann had eight points, while Kale Knudson added seven points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. 

For Sioux Valley, Braden Danzeisen scored 16 points. Maverick Nelson tallied 14 points, four rebounds and three 3-pointers. Brock Christopherson added five points, six assists and seven rebounds. Carter Sapp totaled four rebounds, four points and three steals. 


Gregory 69, White River 39 

MITCHELL — Four players scored in double figures as Gregory defeated White River at the boys Hanson Classic on Saturday.

Gregory’s Cruz Klundt finished with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Noah Bearshield and Rane Kenzy tallied 12 points and four rebounds apiece. Colt Keiser recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Cole Serr had nine points, while Jackson Bolander added eight points and four rebounds.

White River’s Bryson One Star recorded 21 points. Teagen Bouman had eight points. 


Custer 66, Wall 58

CUSTER — Four players scored in double figures to pace Custer to a boys basketball win on Saturday.

Custer’s Cade Lehman and Kyle Virtue recorded 14 points apiece. Brady Virtue tallied 13 points and Cody Dirkes had 10 points. Rhett Lowe scored nine points and Ayden Pietz posted six points. 


Howard 54, Florence-Henry 44

MADISON — Carson Hinker and Luke Koepsell combined for 34 points and 17 rebounds to pace Howard to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Dakota State University Classic.

Hinker finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Koepsell added 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Austin Severson recorded eight points and five rebounds. Kolt Becker had six points and three bounds.

For FH, Carson Vavruska tallied 11 points, five assists, five steals and three rebounds. Ty Bergh had nine points and five rebounds. Logan Koll had eight points and six rebounds. Tristyn Sumner had eight points and four rebounds.


North Central 46, Langford Area 42

EUREKA — North Central clipped Langford Area during Saturday’s boys basketball action.

Kobe Wherry led with 13 points, Donovan Nelson and Jade Jacobs each had nine points, while Cole Beitelspacher and Zane Haar each had five points in the win.

LA”s Kassen Keough had 28 points in the loss.


Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 68, Sioux Falls Lutheran 54

ELKTON — Boyd Pooler and Brayden Hanson powered Oldham-Ramona/Rutland to a boys basketball win at the Saturday’s Dakota Valley Conference Classic.

Pooler finished with 26 points and Hanson scored 25 points. 

For Sioux Falls Lutheran, Rowen Becker recorded 15 points and Sam Borg added 12 points. Jakob Stubkjaer scored seven points, while Kade Matthies logged six points. Owen Gilster had five points.


Sully Buttes 56, Deubrook Area 44

ELKTON — Wesley Wittler powered Sully Buttes to a boys basketball win at Saturday’s Dakota Valley Conference Classic.

Wittler finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Eli Mercer tallied 13 points. Teghan Westphal and Easton Moore scored five points apiece. 

Deubrook Area’s Chance Schoenfeld recorded 16 points and Josh Moberg added 12 points. Isaac Gass scored nine points and Charlie Olsen finished with seven points.


Elkton-Lake Benton 80, Canby (Minn.) 55

ELKTON — Tanner Drietz’s 24-points powered Elkton-Lake Benton to a boys basketball victory Saturday at the Dakota Valley Conference Classic.

Drietz finished with 24 points, Colt Beck added 16 points, Joseph Nibbe recorded 13 points, Eliot Erickson had 11 points, while Riley Nordmeyer tallied six points in the win.


Sunshine Bible Academy 75, Colome 18

MILLER — A balanced scoring attack powered Sunshine Bible Academy to a boys basketball victory over Colome Saturday.

Owan Watson led the charger with 14 points, Trey Thieman added 12 points, Tarrence Mickelson had eight points, four rebounds and three steals, Levi Eveland tallied eight points and four rebounds, Anders Wipf recorded seven points, while Joshua Stomprud and Toby Mickelson each had six points in the win.

Colome’s Jonah Musser had 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.


Lower Brule 60, Wilmot 52

ELKTON — Lower Brule clipped Wilmot during Saturday’s Dakota Valley Conference Classic.

Elliot LaRoche, Jason Thompson and Peyton Palmier each tallied 11 points in the win, Nate Middletent had 10 points, Kristian Antelope totaled eight points while Lane Gray added seven points in the win.

Wilmot’s Ethan Schwenn tallied 14 points while Micah Pelzel had 12 points in the loss.


Rapid City Central 68, Watertown 42

RAPID CITY — Gilbert White Jr.’s 20-point game lifted Rapid City Central to a boys basketball victory Saturday.

White Jr. finished with 20 points and four rebounds, Junor Allen recorded 16 points, four rebounds and three steals, Preston Yellow had 13 points and five rebounds, while Weiland Benbo totaled eight points and five rebounds in the win.

Watertown’s Jackson McClemans had 10 points and four rebounds, while Isaac Rehorst tallied seven points and four rebounds in the loss.
