Wessington Springs 51, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 41

WOONSOCKET — Wessington Springs held off Sanborn Central/Woonsocket for a girls basketball win on Thursday.


Rapid City Christian 44, Hot Springs 27 

HOT SPRINGS — Rapid City Christian picked up a girls basketball win over Hot Springs on Thursday.

Rapid City Christian’s Hayden Thorton scored 11 points. Nora Kieffer, Abby Thomson and Lydia Williams scored six points apiece. Brynn Casey and Macy Ham scored five points apiece.

Hot Springs stats were not reported. 


Lower Brule 67, Flandreau Indian 46

MITCHELL — A balanced scoring attack helped the Lower Brule girls get past Flandreau Indian in the first round of the Dakota Oyate Challenge on Thursday. 

Brilyn LaRoche led Lower Brule with 21 points. Lael Middeltent scored 19 points and Marlee Sazue pumped in 15 points. Laila Wells also reached double-figures with 10 points. 

Mashyla Main led Flandreau Indian with 14 points while Akira Armell added nine points. Davoni Sheridan came off the bench to score eight points for Flandreau Indian.


Lyman 62, New Underwood 12

NEW UNDERWOOD — Class B No. 3 Lyman picked up a girls basketball win over New Underwood on Thursday.

Lyman’s Jordyn Scott recorded 15 points, six rebounds and three steals. Skyler Volmer had 15 points and four steals. Mak Scott posted 14 points, five steals and five assists. Annie Brakke had six points.

New Underwood stats were not reported. 


Wagner 62, Scotland 11

WAGNER — Macy and Ashlyn Koupal powered Class A No. 2 Wagner to a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Macy Koupal finished with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists. Ashlyn Koupal 17 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, six blocked shots and five steals. Lydia Yost scored 16 points and had four steals.

Scotland’s Emily Dvorak scored five points and collected seven rebounds. 


Parkston 47, Lennox 42

LENNOX — Parkston edged Lennox for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Keera Oakley finished with 13 points, while Gracie Oakley scored 11 points.

Lennox’s Dani Highum had 18 points and eight rebounds. 


Sioux Valley 59, Chester 51

VOLGA — Three players reached double-figure scoring as Sioux Valley defeated Chester in the first round of the Big East Conference tournament Thursday. 

Kailey Cradduck paced Sioux Valley with 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Keyra Kruse posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Isabelle Bloker finished with 13 points, two rebounds and four steals. Bloker also scored her 1,000th career point. 

Jacy Wolf led Chester with 21 points, two rebounds and six assists. Emery Larson and Katelyn Schut both scored nine points and Emmerson Eppard snared 13 rebounds. 


Sully Buttes 49, Hitchcock-Tulare 40 

TULARE — Stevie Wittler powered Sully Buttes to a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Wittler finished with a game-high 24 points, while Addison Chicoine had 13 points and three 3-pointers. Payge Bakker had six points.

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Rebecca Huizenga had 12 points and Katelyn Schroeder scored 11 points. Cambree Hoekman had eight points. 


Burke 45, Boyd County, Neb., 35

SPENCER, Neb. — Burke pulled away from Boyd County, Nebraska, for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Burke’s Paige Bull logged 13 points and 11 rebounds. Emmie Hausmann had 11 points and seven rebounds. Cecily Geaghan had eight points, while Piper Hanson had seven rebounds. Kailee Frank had five assists. 


Kimball/White Lake 68, Gregory 47

WHITE LAKE — Harley Nammany’s big game helped Kimball/White Lake earn a win over Gregory in girls basketball action Thursday. 

Namanny posted a game-high 34 points to go along with five rebounds. Ryann Nielsen scored 14 points, dished out four assists and had two steals. Summer Skluzak and Rylee McCord each scored eight points for Kimball/White Lake. 

Asia VanDerWerff led Gregory with 10 points. Dani VanDerWerff and Ashlyn Vosika each notched ten points for Gregory.


Bon Homme 45, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 38

LAKE ANDES — A balanced scoring attack helped Bon Homme get a win over Andes Central/Dakota Christian in girls basketball action Thursday. 

Erin Heusinkveld led Bon Homme with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Juini Vavruska added 13 points. 

Halle Olson led Andes Central/Dakota Christian with 14 points. Mahpiya Irving scored 12 points and Josie Brouwer chipped in with 10 points.


Garretson 46, McCook Central/Montrose 33

GARRETSON — Garretson pulled away from McCook Central/Montrose for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Jordyn Williams finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Taylor Benson had 11 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Sydney Olson had nine points.

For MCM, Carly Katzer had eight points and six rebounds. Natalie Lueth logged eight points and seven rebounds. 


Beresford 49, Baltic 31

VOLGA — Beresford picked up a girls basketball win over Baltic on Thursday.

Beresford’s Lily Seivert finished with 15 points, while Ella Merrigan added 10 points. Kylie Mockler and Ashlynn Olson scored six points apiece. Harley Koth posted five points.

For Baltic, Harper Kortemeyer finished with 11 points. Meredith Larson scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds. Baylee Breece had six points. 


Centerville 57, Viborg-Hurley 26

CENTERVILLE — Three players scored in double figures to pace Centerville to a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Centerville’s Althea Gust recorded 23 points, while Emma Marshall added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Keira Austin had 10 points. Izzie Eide added five points, while Makayla Heesch posted nine rebounds and four points.

For Viborg-Hurley, Kendra Gilbert logged 10 points. Jenna Graves and Tatum Lyons scored seven points apiece. Aubree Schwartz had five steals. 


Freeman 63, Canistota 60

CANISTOTA — A balanced scoring attack helped Freeman edge Canistota in girls basketball action Thursday. 

Ashlin Jacobsen led Freeman with 17 points and seven rebounds. Cami Fransen scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds. Peyton McCune, Valda Ammann and Rylee Peters each scored nine points for Freeman. 

Kayla Pappendick led Canistota with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Natalie Becker pumped in 16 points while grabbing five rebounds and Ellie Becker chipped in with nine points. 


Faulkton Area 45, Leola/Frederick Area 37

LEOLA — Faulkton Area held off Leola-Frederick Area for a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Faulkton Area’s Carley Cotton recorded 21 points and four rebounds. Presleigh Martinmaas had nine points and seven rebounds, while Kelli Stoecker posted seven points. Annika Mueller scored five points.

For Leola-Frederick Area, Laura Sumption scored 11 points and nine rebounds. Kalyce Achen had nine points and Arabella Clark scored eight points. 


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 50, Sioux Falls Washington 31 

SIOUX FALLS — Three players scored in double figures to power Class AA No. 1 Sioux Falls O’Gorman to a girls basketball win on Thursday.

Julia Eggert finished with 12 points, while Lucy Moore and Mahli Abdouch scored 11 points apiece. Sydney Terveen and Paydyn Peterson scored five points apiece. 

For Washington, Grace Peterson finished with nine points and six rebounds. Rylan Kennett logged six points.
