Jan. 31 Boys Basketball Roundup - Winner pulls away from Mount Vernon/Plankinton for Friday victory

Winner 60, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 42 

WINNER — Three players scored in double figures to power Winner to a boys basketball win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton on Friday.

Winner’s Carter Craven had 22 points and Aiden Schroeder recorded 19 points. Shawn Hammerbeck added 13 points. Ryder Halligan scored six points.

MVP’s Tyce Feistner scored 12 points, while Isaiah Olson scored nine points on three 3-pointers. Mason Karst scored six points and Brady Fox had five points. 


Lower Brule 72, Crazy Horse 36

MITCHELL — Lower Brule used a balanced-scoring attack to pick up a boys basketball win at Friday’s Dakota Oyate Challenge. Lower Brule will play Omaha Nation in the DOC championship game on Saturday.

Lower Brule’s Brent Hood Jr., finished with 11 points, while Jason Thompson had nine points on three 3-pointers. Payton Palmier, Kristian Antelope and Nate Middletent scored eight points apiece. Lane Gray and Elliot LaRoche had five points apiece. 

For Crazy Horse, Donnie Ghost Dog scored 12 points and Devaughn Between Lodges scored 11 points. 


Omaha Nation 65, Marty 56

MITCHELL — Omaha Nation outlasted Marty for a boys basketball win at Friday’s Dakota Oyate Challenge. Omaha Nation will play Lower Brule in the DOC championship on Saturday.

Omaha Nation’s Frank Lasley scored 23 points and hit five 3-pointers. Dason Romo scored 20 points.

Marty’s Greg Zephier finished with 19 points, while Amaziah Zephier and Jordan Zephier scored 14 points apiece. 


Tiospaye Topa 50, Tiospa Zina 45

MITCHELL — Tiospaye Topa held off Tiospa Zina for a boys basketball win at Friday’s Dakota Oyate Challenge.

Tiospaye Topa’s JaKolby Rousseau finished with 21 points and Laken Traversie netted 10 points. Isaiah Lee scored eight points and Steven Garnette had five points.

For Tiospa Zina, Ashden Sierra recorded 17 points and hit three 3-pointers. Devon Blue Horse scored 14 points and Blake Dumarce added 10 points.

 

Mobridge-Pollock 72, Chamberlain 43

MOBRIDGE — Three players scored in double figures to pace Mobridge-Pollock to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Mobridge-Pollock’s Shooter Frederick finished with 24 points, while Shane Henderson added 16 points. Kale Knudson scored 10 points. Jackson Eisemann scored nine points and Easton Eisemann added seven points.

For Chamberlain, Blaze Knippling scored 14 points. Kansas Honomichl-Rouse had seven points, while Riddik Big Eagle and Tel Hawk scored six points apiece. 

 

Northwestern 69, Langford Area 67

MELLETTE — Three players scored in double figures to power Northwestern to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Northwestern’s Jack Hanson totaled 26 points, while Ty Boekelheide had 13 points, four steals and four rebounds. Jarren Haven had 11 points and five rebounds. Dallas Stoltenberg had seven points, seven assists and 11 rebounds. Carson Ewalt had seven points and four rebounds.

For Langford Area, Kassen Keough tallied a game-high 40 points and hit eight 3-pointers. Jacob Samson added 15 points. Connor Glines and Caleb Mertz scored six points apiece. Glines added seven rebounds.

 

Bridgewater-Emery 52, Hanson 46

EMERY — Bridgewater-Emery outlasted Hanson for a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Holden Wollmann finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Ben Weber added 11 points and 10 rebounds. 

For Hanson, AJ Wilber had 14 points and five rebounds. Ben Wilber added 10 points and five rebounds. Sutton Dewald scored 10 points. 


Gregory 66, Jones County 24

GREGORY — Three players scored in double figures to pace Gregory to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Lincoln Juracek finished with 12 points, while Cruz Klundt added 10 points and five rebounds. Jackson Bolander had 10 points, while Noah Bearshield and Cole Serr had eight rebounds apiece.

Jones County’s Asa Best scored 10 points.


Tripp-Delmont/Armour 51, Burke 44

BURKE — Isaac Wunder’s 21 points powered Tripp-Delmont/Armour to a boys basketball victory over Burke Friday.

Wunder finished with 21 points, Riley Spaans collected 16 points while Alex Werkmeister had seven points in the win.

Burke’s Brody Indahl led the Cougars with 15 points, Jayder Schonebaum had 10 points while Hudson Fuhrer tallied seven points in the loss.


De Smet 53, Colman-Egan 49

DE SMET — Grant Wilkinson powered De Smet to a boys basketball win on Friday.

Wilkinson finished with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Samuel Gigov had seven points, while Noah Luethmers and Ganon Henrich scored six points apiece. Henrich added six boards. Carter Wilkinson added five points and three rebounds.

For Colman-Egan, Jase Mousel had 18 points and five rebounds. Jackson Zwart added 16 points and eight rebounds. Caden Zwart totaled 14 points and five rebounds. 


Clark/Willow Lake 82, Redfield 30

CLARK — Four players scored in double figures to pace Class A No. 5 Clark/Willow Lake to a boys basketball win on Friday. 

Emmerson Larson finished with 14 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Chris Bevers had 14 points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds. Bo Begeman tallied 12 points and five rebounds. Sullivan Felberg had 10 points and six rebounds. Griffin Musser had six points and three rebounds. 

For Redfield, Ruben Alvarez scored 17 points. Ethan Falk added eight points and five boards. 


McCook Central-Montrose 47, Canistota 35

MONTROSE — Jackson Schmidt’s double-double powered McCook Central-Montrose over Canistota Friday.

Schmidt recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds, Mason Sabers tallied 14 points, four assists and two steals, while Lane Deutsch added seven points and two steals in the win.

Canistota’s Brady Scott had 21 points and four rebounds in the loss.


Mitchell 69, Sioux Falls Lincoln 58

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 4 Mitchell knocked off Class AA No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln in boys basketball action on Friday.

Mitchell’s Markus Talley recorded 19 points and four rebounds. Gavin Hinker added 15 points and six rebounds. Colton Smith had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Landen Soulek and Parker Mandel had six points apiece. Soulek added four assists. Owen Raml added six points and five rebounds. Sutton Thompson grabbed five rebounds. 

For Lincoln, Sam Ericsson finished with a game-high 28 points and hit six 3-pointers. Brody Schafer tallied 16 points. Sam DeGroot posted five points and seven rebounds.


West Central 54, Flandreau 30

HARTFORD — A balanced scoring attack powered Class A No. 4 West Central to a boys basketball victory Friday.

Will Kuhl led the Trojans with 11 points and five rebounds, Kolte Garry tallied nine points, Connor Mebius had eight points, five assists and four steals, while Luke Knight recorded eight points and eight rebounds in the win.

Flandreau’s Paul Parsley collected 20 points in the loss.


Freeman 64, Avon 39

FREEMAN — Three players reached double figures as Freeman ran past Avon for a win in boys basketball action Friday. 

David Walter led Freeman with 22 points, six rebounds and two assists. Luke Peters finished with 12 points, five rebounds and two assists and Tate Sorensen chipped in with 11 points and four rebounds. 

Stats for Avon were not reported. 


Dell Rapids St. Mary 67, Chester 36

CHESTER — Maverick LeBrun and Trevon Beckman combined for 45 points during Class B No. 3 Dell Rapids St. Mary’s victory over Chester Friday.

LeBrun led the charge with 25 points and 14 rebounds, Beckman tallied 20 points and four assists, while Jake Kopsas chipped in 11 points in the win.

Chester’s Carter Vogel had 15 points, Layke Wold collected 11 points and three assists, while Will Seeley brought down four rebounds in the loss.
