July 14 Legion Baseball Roundup - Levi Miller's walk-off sends Elk Point-Jefferson past Beresford/Alcester-Hudson

Elk Point-Jefferson 3, Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Post 72 Black Sox 2

ELK POINT — Levi Miller’s seventh inning walk-off on an error sent Elk Point-Jefferson past the Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Post 72 Black Sox in a Legion baseball game on Thursday.

Hunter Geary picked up the win for Elk Point-Jefferson, allowing two runs on four hits, while fanning 10 batters in seven innings.

Ty Trometer led Elk Point-Jefferson with one hit in two at bats, while Miller and Ben Swatek had one RBI apiece.

Isaac Ward took the loss for Beresford/Alcester-Hudson, pitching ⅔ of an inning and allowing zero hits and two runs, while walking one. Cooper Nelson started the game for Beresford/Alcester-Hudson, giving up one run on one hit in 5 ⅓ innings, while striking out six.

Nelson, Ward, Isaiah Richards, and Max Orr each had one hit to lead Beresford/Alcester-Hudson, while Robert Watkins had one RBI.


Sioux Falls Post 15 West 8, Harrisburg Tigers 1

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Post 15 West raced past the Harrisburg Tigers for a Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Jake Klopstad took the win for Post 15 West, allowing three hits and one run in seven innings, while striking out six.

Treyson Harty-Olsen led Post 15 West with two hits in four at bats. Ryan Rysavy and Dexter Payne led with two RBI each. Harty-Olsen, Jordyn Kinzer, and Noah Goodroad each added one RBI.

Jack Sutton took the loss for Harrisburg, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out one in 1 ⅔ innings.

Teigan Munce, Brandon Simunek, and Noah Boschee led Harrisburg with one hit apiece. Munce drove in one run.


Post 74 Bandits 5, Mitchell Post 18 2

MITCHELL — The Post 74 Bandits picked up a Legion baseball win over Mitchell Post 18 on Thursday.

Breck Hirrschoff led the Post 74 Bandits on the mound, allowing six hits and two runs in seven innings, while striking out two.

Ashton Witte and Henry Hammrich led the Post 74 Bandits with two hits apiece, while Hammrich also drove in two runs.

Jake Helleloid took the loss for Mitchell Post 18, giving up six hits and five runs in six innings, while striking out eight.

Carson Fahey led Mitchell Post 18 with two hits in three at bats. Jace Larson and Mason Geraets each had one hit and one RBI.

The Post 74 Bandits also won game 2, 5-3.


Groton Post 39 11, Webster Post 40 0 (5 innings)

GROTON — Groton Post 39 earned a shutout win over Webster Post 40 in a Legion baseball game on Thursday.

Pierce Kettering was on the hill for Groton Post 39, allowing two hits and zero runs in five innings, while striking out four.

Kettering, Jackson Cogley, Bradin Althoff, and Tate Larson each had one hit to lead Groton Post 39. Althoff led with three RBI, while Larson, Cole Simon, and Ryan Groeblinghoff each had one RBI.

Brent Snaza took the loss for Webster Post 40, allowing two hits and eight runs in three innings.


Castlewood Post 250 14, Sisseton 4 (5 innings)

CASTLEWOOD — Castlewood Post 250 pulled away from Sisseton for a Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Lane Tvedt earned the win on the mound for Castlewood Post 250, allowing four runs on three hits in five innings, while striking out eight and walking one.

Castlewood Post 250 tallied 13 hits, with Hunter Smith leading with three hits, while Tvedt, Booker Schooley, and Jackson Schofield each added two hits. Schofield led with four RBI, while Smith tallied three RBI. Tvedt and Schooley added two RBI apiece.

Konner Seiber took the loss for Sisseton, allowing ten hits and 11 runs in two innings.

Bradley Hansen led Sisseton with two hits and one RBI.

Castlewood Post 250 also won game 2 by a score of 10-4.


Elkton 2, Madison Post 25 1

ELKTON — Elkton edged Madison Post 25 for a Legion baseball win on Thursday.

Aidan Stewart led Elkton to the victory, allowing one run on two hits in seven innings, while striking out 14.

Austin Johnson led Elkton with two hits and three at bats and one RBI. Stewart and Aiden Erickson each added one hit.

Riley Kearin took the loss for Madison Post 25, giving up two runs on three hits in four innings, while striking out five.

Peyton Wolf and Trey Smith had one hit apiece to lead Madison Post 25 at the plate.
