Winner/Colome Pheasants 12, Corsica-Stickney Horned Frogs 2 (8 innings)

CORSICA — Winner/Colome pounded out three home runs to pick up a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Corsica-Stickney on Sunday. The Pheasants finished with 15 hits and score the final nine runs. 

Austin Calhoon, Austin Richey and J.J. Farner went deep for Winner/Colome, which will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming District 5B tournament in Corsica. Richey finished with four hits and drove in three runs. Dillon Lambley, Chandler Bakley, Calhoon and Oscar Pravecek each had two hits. Derek Graesser drove in three runs. Farner earned the win after striking out eight batters, while he allowed seven hits, two earned runs and one walk in eight innings. 

Corsica-Stickney's Aaron Groeneweg had two hits and an RBI. Blake Moke, Luke Bamberg, Nathan Blom, Kiefer Johnson and Mason Vanvuuren each had hits. Blom took the loss after surrendering 11 hits, seven earned runs, three walks and struck out four batters in his six-inning start.

Plankinton Gold Sox 12, Chamberlain Mallards 10

CHAMBERLAIN — The Plankinton Gold Sox racked up 15 hits and Ryland DeVries struck out 10 batters in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win over Chamberlain on Sunday. 

Tom Harris finished with three hits and three RBI, while Sean DeVries added three hits and an RBI. Jesse Grosdidier and Logan DeRungs each had two hits and an RBI apiece. Andrew Becker, Marcus Hill and Devin Mehlhaff each had hits. Ryland DeVries allowed six hits, 10 runs (four earned) and walked five batters on 158 pitches. 

Chamberlain’s Adam Schroeder, Evan Steiner and Kyle Forester each had two hits. Steiner and Mike Schwartz drove in two runs apiece. Schroeder took the loss after allowing 15 hits, 12 runs (10 earned), four walks and struck out 12 batters.

Alexandria Angels 13, Platte Killer Tomatoes 4

PLATTE — Cole Wenande, Tyson Gau and Jordan Gau each had three hits apiece to power Alexandria to a Sunshine League amateur baseball win over Platte on Sunday. 

Wenande and Jerrod Zens both hammered home runs. Zens finished with two hits and drove in four runs. Michael Schoettmer, Peyton Smith and Jacob Giles each had a hit for Alexandria, which had 14 total hits and scored six runs in the third inning. Ethan Davis earned the win after allowing seven hits, four earned runs, one walk and struck out eight batters in the complete-game performance. 

Platte’s Grant Doom finished with two hits and two RBI. Sheldon Gant, Richard Sternberg, Hunter Hewitt, Ryan Allen and Michael Buitenbos each had hits. Buitenbos took the loss, giving up five hits, six earned runs, three walks and struck out two batters in his 2.1-inning start. 


Plankinton Bankers 3, Kimball/White Lake Nationals 2

PLANKINTON — The Plankinton Bankers won on a walk-off error to edge Kimball/White Lake in a Pony Hills League amateur baseball game on Sunday. 

Travis Gant led the Bankers with three hits, while Alex Loes and Josh Engquist had two hits apiece. Cole Knippling, Trevor Salmonson, Trevor Boyd and Chad Cody each had hits. Engquist lasted the first eight innings, giving up six hits, zero earned runs, one walk and struck out eight batters. Gant pitched one scoreless inning of relief to earn the win. 

Kimball/White Lake’s Eathen Gaulke had two hits, while Tucker Wookey, Dylanger Pierson, Caden Lenz and Wes Kroupa each added hits. Pierson hit a solo homer. Brian Zeman lasted the first six innings, allowing seven hits, one earned run, zero walks and struck out four batters. Zak Wallner struck out seven batters, allowed four hits, one earned run and zero walks in 2.2 relief innings. 


Canova Gang 13, Flandreau Cardinals 4

CANOVA — Canova scored 12 unanswered runs to pick up a Cornbelt League amateur baseball win over Flandreau on Sunday. 

Jared Miller finished with three hits, while Jason Miller hammered a three-run homer. Justin Miller smacked a two-run homer. Derek Miller, Riley Genzlinger and Cole Gassman added two hits apiece for Canova, which racked up nine runs in the eighth inning. 


Lake Norden Lakers 10, Clark Traders 3

LAKE NORDEN — Jordon Johnson struck out 11 batters to lift Lake Norden to an Eastern Dakota League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Johnson allowed five hits, one earned run and walked four batters in 7.2 innings of relief. He also drove in two runs on offense. Mitchell Noem belted a three-run homer for the Lakders, who finished with 11 total hits. 

Mick Tulson logged three hits and drove in a run. Jesse VanOverbeke added two hits and two RBI. 

Clark’s Brent Griffith had three hits and three RBI, including a solo home run. Jay Huber posted three hits. He also took the loss after allowing seven hits, six earned runs, six walks and struck out four batters in his six-inning start. 


Miller/Wessington Outlaws 16, Groton Locke Electric 5

GROTON — Miller/Wessington erupted for 19 hits to secure a Northern Plains League amateur baseball victory on Sunday. 

Jay Winter powered the Outlaws with four hits and five RBI. Alex Heyd, Casey Schlechter and Rafael Clemente finished with three hits apiece. Engles Perez added two hits and drove in a run. Ryan Soler, Dustin Harvey, Garrett Knox and Josh Koeck each had hits. Heyd earned the win after giving up five hits, zero runs, zero walks and struck out four batters in three relief innings. 

Locke Electric’s Dylan Frey and Evan Erickson finished with three hits apiece. Aaron Severson took the loss after allowing eight hits, five earned runs, four walks and struck out two batters in his three-inning start. 


Four Corners 12, South Central Storm 9

HAYES — Four Corners used a seven-run seventh inning to pull away from South Central for a Pony Hills League amateur baseball win on Sunday. 

Noah Hainy and Sam Hand led Four Corners with two hits apiece. Hainy struck out seven batters, allowed four hits, four earned runs and walked two batters in 3.1 innings of relief. 

Aaron Vomacka and Blake Boes both hammered home runs for South Central, which racked up 14 hits. Christian Schweigert collected five hits, while Hunter Van Niewenhuyse added two hits. Van Niewenhuyse lasted the first six innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs, four walks and struck out three batters. 


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 6, Parkston Mudcats 2

PARKSTON — The Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels used a four-run seventh inning to pick up a non-league amateur baseball win over Parkston on Sunday. 

Seth Peterson struck out five batters, allowed four hits, one earned run and walked five batters in his five-inning start to earn the win. Zach Dibble and Trevor Hurley had two hits apiece. 

Parkston’s Jeff Harris, Dawson Semmler, Brady Nolz, Logan Heidinger and Isaac Bialas each had a hit. Nate Doering lasted the first five innings, giving up two hits, one earned run, three walks and struck out seven batters.
