July 17 Legion Baseball Roundup - Alexandria picks up narrow win over Platte/Geddes

Alexandria 7, Platte/Geddes WhiteCaps 6

PLATTE — Alexandria edged the Platte/Geddes WhiteCaps for a Legion baseball win on Sunday.

Jackson Jarding earned the win for Alexandria, pitching 1 ⅓ innings, allowing two hits and zero runs, and striking out one and walking one. Gavin Doyle started the game for Alexandria, giving up two runs on two hits, along with four strikeouts, in two innings.

Alexandria totaled ten hits, with Riley Haynes, Hunter Robinson, and Jake Doyle leading the way with two hits apiece. Robinson led with three RBI, while Gavin Doyle tallied two RBI. Jarding and Jake Doyle each added one RBI.

Jaxon Christensen took the loss for Platte/Geddes, giving up five runs on five hits in three innings and striking out three. Caden Oberbroekling started the game for Platte/Geddes, allowing two hits and one run, while striking out two.

Dakota Munger led Platte/Geddes with three hits in four at bats and one RBI. Christensen and Joey Foxley recorded two hits and one RBI apiece. Jackson Neuman also had one RBI.


Menno/Scotland Trappers Post 152 11, Parkston Post 194 1

MENNO — The Menno/Scotland Trappers Post 152 raced past Parkston Post 194 for a Legion baseball win on Sunday.

Bryce Sattler picked up the win for Menno/Scotland, allowing zero runs on one hit in three innings, while striking out two. Karson Bierle started the game for Menno/Scotland, allowing two hits and one run in two innings, while walking one.

Kadeyn Ulmer led Menno/Scotland with two hits in three at bats. Bierle, Sattler, Jacob Schott, Austin Pillsbury, Treyton Sayler, Kory Keppen, and Zach Fox each had one hit for Menno/Scotland. Ulmer and Pillsbury each drove in two runs, while Keppen, Sayler, Brayden Sattler, Schott, Bierle, and Sattler each drove in one run.

Kaleb Weber took the loss for Parkston Post 194, giving up three hits and three runs in one inning, while striking out two and walking one. Caleb Titze, Adam Doering, and Jay Storm each had one hit for Parkston Post 194.


West Fargo Patriots (N.D.) 4, Watertown Post 17 3

FARGO, N.D. — The West Fargo Patriots (N.D.) used a ninth inning error to score the winning run against Watertown Post 17 in a Legion baseball game on Sunday.

Jackson Maag took the loss for Watertown Post 17, allowing one run on three hits in four innings, while striking out five.

Kolby Lacher, Carson Mutschler, Jack Heesch, Braedon Zaug, and Andrew Czech each had one hit for Watertown Post 17. Czech and Ryan Roby each drove in one run.


West Fargo Patriots (N.D.) 7, Watertown Post 17 1

FARGO, N.D. — Watertown Post 17 dropped a Legion baseball game against the West Fargo Patriots (N.D.) on Sunday.

Jack Heesch led Watertown Post 17 on the mound, giving up two runs on three hits in three innings, along with two strikeouts and one walk.

Ben Althoff, Drew Denzer, Ryan Roby, and Braedon Zaug each had one hit for Watertown Post 17, while Zaug drove in one run.


Huron Post 7 5, Post 15 4

HURON — Huron Post 7 held off Post 15 for a Legion baseball win on Sunday.

Johnny Hernandez picked up the win for Huron Post 7, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out five in six innings.

Hernandez led Huron Post 7 with two hits. Kolby Hofer had two RBI and Tyson Lien added one RBI.

Brycen Top took the loss for Post 15, pitching six innings and allowing five runs on five hits, while striking out eight.

Wesley Stroh led Post 15 with one RBI.


Huron Post 7 10, Post 15 2

HURON — Huron Post 7 raced past Post 15 for a Legion baseball win on Sunday.

Peyton Bischoff earned the win for Huron Post 7, pitching two innings, allowing two runs on four hits, and striking out one.

Layne Wenzel led Huron Post 7 with three hits in four at bats. Dawsyn Rogers, Mason Davis, and Bubba Peterson each had one RBI. 

Carter Doescher took the loss for Post 15, giving up seven hits and eight runs in 4 ⅔ innings, while tallying four strikeouts.

Brycen Top, Brody Bohnet, Riley Stewart, and Tyler Duin each had one hit for Post 15. Top also had one RBI.


Harrisburg Tigers 10, Sturgis Post 33 Titans 0 (5 innings)

HARRISBURG — The Harrisburg Tigers earned a shutout win over the Sturgis Post 33 Titans in a Legion baseball game on Sunday.

Brandon Simunek pitched Harrisburg to the victory, allowing zero runs on one hit in five innings, while striking out four and walking one.

Lincoln Carlson, Noah Boschee, Max Carlson, Tyman Long, Maddux Scherer, Taylor Klein, Jack Riley, and Carter Barenfuss each had one hit for Harrisburg. Long led Harrisburg with four RBI, while Riley and Barenfuss had two RBI apiece. Carlson added one RBI.

Sam Kooima led the Sturgis Post 33 Titans on the hill, giving up nine runs on seven hits in 3 ⅓ innings, while striking out three.

David Anderson led Sturgis with one hit in two at bats.
