Lake Norden/Badger 9, Salem/Montrose/Canova 3

ALEXANDRIA — Cristhian Rodriguez tossed 10 strikeouts as Lake Norden/Badger advanced to the Region 5B championship Wednesday.

Rodriguez allowed three runs on four hits and four walks in seven innings of work, striking out 10 batters to earn the victory on the mound.

George Jensen drove in three runs on a home run and two walks, Dawson Noem and Tyson Stevenson each drove in two runs on one hit, including a double by Noem, Rodriguez batted 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Kamden Keszler drove in a run in the victory as well.

For SMC, Owen Alley took the loss in two innings of work, allowing one run on one hit and two walks, striking out three.

Jackson Grady and Weston Remmers each drove in a run on one hit, while Luke Koepsell and Kade Schumaker tallied hits in the loss.

Lake Norden/Badger advances to the Region 5B championship at 5:00 p.m. Friday, while SMC will face the Alexandria vs. Hartford/Humboldt winner on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.


Alexandria 2, Redfield 0

ALEXANDRIA — Hayden Schroeder’s complete game on the mound blanked Redfield in Region 5B tournament action Wednesday.

Schroeder allowed just four hits and a walk in seven innings while striking out four batters to earn the victory on the mound for Alexandria.

Jayce Slaba drove in both runs on two hits, AJ Wilber tallied a double, while Sutton Dewald tallied a hit and a walk in the victory.

For Redfield, Eli Morrissette took the loss in 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks, striking out five batters.

Noah Johnson, Micah Zastrow, Dylan Murray, and Jackson Rude each tallied hits in the loss for Redfield.

Alexandria moves on to face Harford/Humboldt Thursday at 5 p.m., while Redfield is eliminated from the Region 5B tournament with the loss.


Sisseton 5, Milbank 4 (8 innings)

CASTLEWOOD — Max Dahlen’s RBI-single lifted Sisseton over Milbank in Region 1B Legion tournament action Wednesday.

Dahlen batted 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI, Carter Strickland collected two hits and an RBI, Mikah Hamm drove in two runs on one hit, Rory Current drove in a run on one hit and one walk, while Landyn Steichen collected one hit and one walk in the victory for Sisseton.

LJ Crooks and Strickland combined for the victory on the mound, allowing four unearned runs on eight hits and seven walks, striking out four batters.

For Milbank, Jace Jonasen and Dillen Scheeley combined for the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits and seven walks, striking out eight batters.

Mac Koplin drove in two runs on two hits, Josh Pederson collected two hits, while Scheeley, Joe Schulte, and Nolen Scheely tallied a hit in the loss.


Castlewood 10, Webster 6

CASTLEWOOD — Brody Bass, Kolby Davis, and Talen Olson drove in a combined seven runs as Castlewood defeated Webster in Region 1B action Wednesday.

Bass, Davis, and Olson each collected one hit, with Bass and Davis each drawing walks and collecting two RBIs apiece, while Olson drove in three runs on a single.

Josh Jensen collected two hits and an RBI, Jyler Theraldsen collected a hit, walk, and an RBI, Ted Smith drove in a run on a hit-by-pitch, while Watson Grantham and Cameron Eng each tallied hits in the win.

Smith earned the victory on the mound in 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks, striking out nine batters.

For Webster, Carter Williams took the loss allowing 10 runs on nine hits and six walks, striking out just two batters.

WIlliams collected an RBI on one hit, Ian Lesnar tallied a hit, while Matthew Mount, Sheldon Schmieg, Ethan Schlotte, and Hunter Bourassa each drove in a run on a combined six walks.

Castlewood advances to the Region 1B semifinals on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.


Big Stone City 12, Sisseton 2 (6 innings)

CASTLEWOOD — Connor Danielson’s three-hit game lifted Big Stone City to the Region 1B semi finals Wednesday.

Danielson batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Cadyn Vanderwal and Isiah Tandoh each drove in two runs on one hit, Carter Brown and Dru Boots each drove in a run on two hits, Isaac Brown drove in a run on a walk, while Carter Lee, Kirby Olson, and Elliott Dorry each tallied hits in the win.

Boots earned the victory on the mound for Big Stone City, allowing three hit-batters in four innings, striking out four.

For Sisseton, Bradley Hansen took the loss in 5.2 innings, allowing 12 runs on 12 hits and four walks, striking out two.

Max Dahlen drove in a run on one hit, while Rory Current and Boe Iverson tallied a hit in the loss.

With the win Big Stone City advances to Thursday’s Region 1B semifinal against Castlewood at 2:30 p.m., while Sisseton moves to the loser’s bracket to face Milbank Thursday at 5 p.m.


Milbank 14, Webster 4 (6 innings) 

CASTLEWOOD — Joe Schulte and Dillen Scheeley each drove in four runs as Milbank defeated Webster in Region 1B tournament action Wednesday.

Schulte batted 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, Scheeley batted 2-for-4 with a walk, double, and four RBIs, Tanner Hallquist drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Mason Miester and Nolen Scheely each drove in a run, with Miester drawing two walks and Scheely getting hit by a pitch. 

Mac Koplin tallied two hits, while Josh Pederson cracked a double and two walks in the win as well.

Reese Rabe earned the victory on the mound, allowing four runs on five hits and five walks, striking out nine batters in five innings.

For Webster, Matthew Mount took the loss allowing seven runs on four hits and five walks in three innings, striking out six batters.

Ian Lesnar batted 3-for-3 with a walk while Mount and Sheldon Schmieg each drove in two runs on one hit, with Mount hitting a double in the loss.

Milbank will now face Sisseton Thursday at 5 p.m. in another elimination game. With the loss, Webster is eliminated from the Region 1B tournament.


Madison 2, Sioux Falls Christian 1

MADISON — Ben Brooks got the best of the pitchers duel as Madison defeated Sioux Falls Christian in Region 2B action Wednesday.

Brooks allowed just one run on two hits and one walk in seven innings, striking out six batters to earn the victory on the mound for Madison.

Jovi Wolf tallied two hits, Braxton Bjorklund drove in a run on one hit, while Quincy Kurtz and Tregg McGillivary each tallied hits in the win.

For SFC, Paul Hoekman allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in six innings on the mound, striking out nine batters.

Tim DeSautel drove in a run on one hit while Hayden Gorsett tallied a hit as well.

Madison advances to Thursday’s Region 2B semifinal at 7:30 p.m.


Dell Rapids 13, Baltic/Colton 8

MADISON — Dell Rapids pounded 11 hits in a Region 2B Legion tournament victory over Baltic/Colton Wednesday.

CJ Smith paced the offense batting 1-for-3 with a three-RBI double, Treyse Eastman drove in two runs on two hits, Lincoln Fersdahl hit a two-run homer, Drake Eastman had two hits, a double, and an RBI, Konrad Richeal drove in a run on one hit, while Cole Ruesink tallied an RBI in the win as well.

Talan Millage, Richeal, and Fersdahl combined for the victory on the mound, allowing eight runs on nine hits and eight walks, striking out three.

For BC, Riley Schultz and Beau Keith each saw time on the mound with Schultz  doing the bulk of the work, allowing 10 runs on eight hits and a walk while throwing six strikeouts in 5.2 innings.

Carter Sorenson and Beau Breece each drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, including a double by Sorenson, Keith tallied two hits, a walk, and an RBI, Everett Althoff tallied two hits, while Schultz, Tyler Groenewold, and Braxten Allen each tallied hits in the loss.

With the win Dell Rapids advances to Thursday’s Region 2B semi final against Madison at 7:30, while Baltic/Colton will face Sioux Falls CHristian in the loser’s bracket Thursday at 5:00.


Volga 10, Sioux Falls Christian 8

MADISON — Volga held off a late Sioux Falls Christian rally to stay alive in the Region 2B Legion tournament Wednesday.

Tate Steffensen batted 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs, Jack Opitz tallied two hits and an RBI, Christopher Moberg, Jace Christensen, and Matthew Gassman each drove in a run on one hit, Broden Teske tallied one hit while Micah Otto drove in a run in the win.

Five Volga pitchers combined for the victory on the mound, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and five walks, striking out five batters.

For SFC, Tim DeSautel saw the most time on the mound allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks in 4.1 innings, fanning three batters.

Dylan Knecht drove in two runs on two hits, a double, and a walk, Maddux Munson hit a solo homer, DeSautel tallied two RBIs on one hit, Austin Connell drove in a run on a double, while Paul Hoekman drove in a run on two hits and two walks, including a double.

Volga will now face Baltic/Colton in an elimination game Thursday at 5 p.m. With the loss, Sioux  Falls Christian was eliminated from the Region 2B tournament.


Lennox 4, Tea 1

LENNOX — Conner Eich’s six shutout innings on the mound helped Lennox defeat Tea in Region 3B tournament action Wednesday

Eich allowed just four hits and two walks in his six innings on the mound, tossing eight strikeouts along the way to earn the victory on the mound.

Isaac Bambas drove in a run on three hits, including a double, Jaxon Bittner and Ethan Larsen each drove in a run on one hit, Sawyer Bowers drove in a run on a hit-by-pitch, while Talen Eich and Jackson Anacker each tallied hits in the win.

For Tea, Nathan Christensen, Clayton Schwebach, and Boston Willemssen combined for the loss on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks, striking out four.

Schwebach drove  in the lone run on two hits, while Mason Schramm, Gavin Johnson, Carter Turek, Tim Halbur, and Ben Vasecka each tallied hits in the loss.

Tea will now face Dakota Valley Thursday at 1 p.m. in an elimination game.


Elk Point/Jefferson 7, Dakota Valley 5

LENNOX — Five different batters drove in a run for Elk Point/Jefferson as it topped Dakota Valley in Region 3B action Wednesday.

Ashton Fairbanks drove in a run on two hits, Ethan Bovill, Brody Van Roekel, and Jace Shatswell each drove in a run on one hit, Ty Trometer drove in a run on an error, while Grayson Girard and Keaton Gale each tallied hits in the win, including a double by Girard.

Bovill earned the victory on the mound for EPJ, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk in five innings pitched.

For Dakota Valley, Garrett Anderson took the loss in four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk, striking out seven batters.

Grant Van Den Hul drove in a run on two hits, Drew Lukken tallied two doubles, Beau Jones and Brendan Barnett each drove in a run on one hit, while Noah Graham tallied two hits in the loss as well.

Elk Point/Jefferson advances to Thursday’s Region 3B semifinal at 4 p.m.


Lennox 4, Vermillion 0

LENNOX — Isaac Bambas’ one-hitter blanked Vermillion in Region 3B tournament action Wednesday.

Bambas allowed just one hit while tossing 10 strikeouts in seven innings pitched, earning the victory on the mound for Lennox.

Conner Eich, Jaxon Bittner, and Sawyer Bowars each drove in a run on one hit, including a double by Eich, Ethan Larsen had two hits, while Bambas, Talen Eich, and Cole Spieler each tallied hits in the win.

For Vermillion, Jack Moskowitz took the loss in six innings on the mound, surrendering four runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out four.

Connor Peterson tallied the lone hit in the loss for Vermillion.

Lennox will play Elk Point/Jefferson in the Region 3B semifinals Thursday at 4 p.m., while Vermillion will face the Dakota Valley vs. Tea winner at 7 p.m. Thursday.


Tabor 4, Menno 3

CORSICA — Tabor held Menno scoreless over the final three frames to stay alive in the Region 4B tournament Wednesday.

Isaiah Crownover and Easton Mudder combined for the win on the mound, Crownover gave up three runs on three hits and a walk in the first five innings while Mudder tossed two shutout innings of relief in just 17 pitches, striking out two batters.

Trey Kaul drove in a run on two hits, Mudder drove in another on a single, Landon Smith collected two hits, while Major Aarstad and Jace Toupal each tallied hits in the win.

For Menno, four pitchers combined for the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks.

Parker Hochstein, Sawyer Wipf, and Kory Keppen each drove in a run on one hit, including a double by Keppen, in the loss.

With the loss, Menno was eliminated from the Region 4B tournament.


Tabor 5, Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney 2

CORSICA — Tabor scored four runs in the fourth inning to defeat Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney in Region 4B tournament action Wednesday.

Landon Smith earned the victory on the mound for Tabor, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk, striking out five batters.

Landon Schmidt drove in two runs on two hits, Major Aarstad drove in a run on a single and three walks, Easton Mudder collected an RBI-single, Trey Kaul scored a run on a walk, while Jace Touapl tallied a hit in the win.

For MVPCS, Tyce Feistner took the loss allowing five runs on five hits and five walks in 5.2 innings while striking out five batters.

Tyson Wentland and Daniel Laufman each drove in a run on one hit, while Taite Klumb, Brady Fox, Blaine Bohr, and Isaiah Olson each tallied hits in the loss.

With the win, Tabor moves on to the loser’s bracket semifinals and will face the Parkston vs. Wagner loser at 3:00 p.m. Thursday. MVPCS was eliminated from the Region 4B tournament with the loss.


Clark/Willow Lake 8, Mobridge 3

CLARK — Jakob Steen threw nine strikeouts during a Region 6B Legion tournament victory over Mobridge Wednesday.

Steen tossed six innings for C/WL, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks, striking out nine to earn the victory on the mound.

Cooper Pommer collected three hits in four at-bats, Conner Mudgett and Jack Helkenn e ach drove in a run on two hits, including a double by Pommer and two doubles by Helkenn, Steen tallied two hits, Damian Severson drove in a run on a walk and a hit-by-pitch, while Waylan Olson tallied a double and a walk in the victory as well.

For Mobridge, Gavin Farlee took the loss allowing five runs on two hits and four walks recording just one out.

Farlee drove in a run on one hit, while Trueth Crow Ghost tallied a hit in the loss as well.

With the loss Mobridge is eliminated from the Region 6B Legion tournament.


Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern 13, Claremont 2 (5 innings)

CLARK — Brayden Kroll limited Claremont to just two baserunners as Warner/Ipswich/Northville earned a Region 6B victory Wednesday.

Kroll pitched all five innings for WIN, allowing just two runs on two hits, striking out six batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Ashton Remily drove in two runs on two hits, Quinton Fischbach, Samuel Vetter, Logan Fischbach, Noah Fischbach, Devon Fischbach,  and Drew Bakeberg each drove in a run on one hit, including a double by Devon Fischbach, Chays Mansfield drove in two runs on two sac-flies, while Alec Mikkelson collected one hit and one walk in the win.

For Claremont, Will Schuller took the loss allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks in three innings, striking out four batters.

Chris Cutler drove in a run on one hit, while Rennan Bruns tallied a hit in the loss as well.

With the loss Claremont is eliminated from the Region 6B tournament.


Groton 5, Faulkton/Highmore 1 (8 innings)

CLARK — Gavin Englund hit a walk-off grand slam as Groton topped Faulkton/Highmore in Region 6B action Wednesday.

Englund batted 1-for-2 with two walks, Colby Dunker drove in a run on two hits and a walk, while Teylor Diegel, Braxton Imrie, and Brevin Fliehs each tallied hits in the win.

Englund also earned the victory on the mound, issuing one run on five hits and three walks, striking out five batters.

For F/H, Gavin Hannan took the loss allowing four runs on two hits and three walks, striking out one in one inning of relief.

Blaze Herdman drove in a run on a double, Layne Cotton tallied two hits, including a double, while Jett Kleinsasser and Cade Schick each tallied hits in the loss.

Groton advances to the Region 6B championship, while Faulkton/Highmore will face the winner of Clark/Willow Lake vs. Warner/Ipswich/Northwestern Thursday.


Platte/Geddes 10, Winner/Colome 6

PLATTE — Kenyon Kuiper and Joey Foxley drove in a combined five runs as Platte/Geddes defeated Winner/Colome in Region 7B tournament action Wednesday.

Kuiper batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Foxley batted 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and two RBIs. Parker Bailey drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Jye Bailey and Caden Oberbroekling each drove in a run on one hit and one walk, while Tanner Dyk and Maddux VanZee each tallied two hits in the win.

Sprik took the victory on the mound allowing six runs on four hits and six walks in 6.1 innings, striking out seven batters.

For W/C, Ryder Haligan took the loss in five innings of work, allowing eight runs on 12 hits, striking out five.

Haligan drove in a run on one hit, while Zachary Olson, Karson Keiser, Landon Calhoon, and Konner Osborn each tallied hits in the loss.

Platte advances to the Region 7B championship on Thursday at 5 p.m.


Chamberlain 5, Belle Fourche 4

PLATTE — Chamberlain scored two runs in the seventh inning to stun Belle Fourche in Region 7B tournament action Wednesday.

Sandler Wiekamp and Brayden Oldenkamp each drove in a run on two hits, including two walks by Wiekamp and a triple by Oldenkamp, Eli Donavon drove in a run on one hit, while Sawyer Donavon and Graden Holan each tallied hits in the win.

Wiekamp earned the victory on the mound, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks in six innings, striking out 10 batters.

For Belle Fourche, Aiden Voyles took the loss in 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks, striking out five batters.

Caden Thomsen and Gavin Pearson each drove in a run on one hit while Nolan Wahlfeldt tallied a triple and a walk in the loss.

With the loss, Belle Fourche is eliminated from the Region 7B tournament.


Winner/Colome 9, Chamberlain 3

PLATTE — A six-run sixth inning helped Winner/Colome defeat Chamberlain in Region 7B action Wednesday.

Quincy Phillips and Zachary Olson each drove in two runs on one hit and one walk, Aiden Barfuss drove in a run on two walks, Rocky Wiedman tallied an RBI on two hits, while Dylan Brandis drove in a run in the win as well.

Aiden Schroeder took the victory on the mound in a complete-game effort, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out seven batters.

For Chamberlain, Cooper Leiferman took the loss allowing three runs on four hits and five walks in 4.1 innings, fanning eight batters.

Conway Collins and Dakota Munger each tallied two hits, Leiferman and Brayden Oldenkamp each tallied hits, while Sandler Wiekamp and Cannon Speer each drove in a run in the loss.

Winner/Colome advances to the Region 7B championship Thursday at 5 p.m. against Platte/Geddes. With the loss, Chamberlain is eliminated from the Region 7B tournament.
