July 9 Legion Baseball Roundup - Alec Mikkelson's walk-off hit lifts Warner/Ipswich/Northville past Redfield

NORTHVILLE — Alec Mikkelson’s walk-off RBI-single lifted Warner/Ipswich/Northville over Redfield in Legion baseball action Tuesday.

Quinton Fischbach earned the victory on the mound for WIN, allowing just two walks in two innings of relief, striking out five batters. Gavin Lane threw the first five innings for WIN, allowing two hits and five walks, striking out six more batters.

Mikkelson drove in one run on a single, while Chays Mansfield, Fischbach, and Noah Fischbach each tallied hits in the win.

For Redfield, Eli Morrissette took the loss in 6.2 innings pitched, allowing one run on four hits and four walks, striking out eight.

Morrissette and Dylan Murray each tallied hits in the loss.


Lake Norden 6, Volga 0

LAKE NORDEN — Lake Norden’s pitching duo combined to blank Volga in a Legion baseball victory Tuesday.

Dawson Noem tossed three shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three batters, while Cristian Rodriguez issued five hits and a walk over the other four frames, striking out six more batters.

Ryker Warrington drove in two runs on three hits for Lake Norden, Tyson Stevenson drove in a run on one hit, while Rodriguez tallied two hits, including a double, in the victory.

For Volga, Micah Otto took the loss in three innings pitched, allowing six runs on 10 hits, striking out three.

Otto tallied two hits in the loss, while Tate Steffensen, Christopher Moberg, Jack Opitz, and Matthew Gassman each tallied hits.


Chamberlain 8, Platte/Geddes 4

PLATTE — Chamberlain’s Graden Holan tossed seven strikeouts in a Legion baseball victory over Platte/Geddes Tuesday night.

Holan pitched 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and six walks, striking out seven batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Sandler Wiekamp drove in two runs on a double and two walks, Cooper Leiferman and Brayden Oldenkamp each tallied two hits and an RBI, Dakota Munger and Eli Donovan each drove in a run on a double, while Sawyer Donovan tallied two hits, including a double, in the win as well.

For P/G, Caden Oberbroekling took the loss in 4.2 innings, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks, tossing 10 strikeouts.

Oberbroekling and Kenyon Kuiper each drove in a run on one hit, including a double by Kuiper, while Jye Bailey tallied two hits in the loss.


Huron 6, Aberdeen Smittys 5

HURON — Bubba Peterson stole home to earn Huron a walk-off Legion baseball victory over Aberdeen Tuesday night.

Peterson earned the victory on the mound for Huron as well, issuing one run on two hits and two walks in 3.1 innings, striking out four batters.

Kolton Ogle and Brady Feenstra each tallied two hits and an RBI, Logan Leyendecker and Cooper Bischoff each drove in one run, while Tanner Gilbert tallied two hits in the win.

For Aberdeen, Zane Backous took the loss issuing two walks that scored the winning runs for Huron.

Backous drove in two runs on one hit and one walk, Jared Klootwyk tallied two hits and an RBI, Casey Vining drove in a run on one hit and a walk, while Drew Salfrank and Grant Beyer each tallied hits in the loss.


Aberdeen Smittys 16, Huron 1 (5 innings)

HURON — Cooper Eisenbeisz and Casey Vining drove in eight runs in a Legion baseball victory over Huron Tuesday afternoon.

Eisenbeisz drove in four runs on a 4-for-5 day, including two doubles, while Vining drove in four runs on three hits in the win. Donnie Soderlund batted 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Joran Foss and Drew Salfrank each drove in a run on three hits, while Talan Dutenhoeffer tallied a hit and an RBI in the win as well.

Zane Backous tallied two hits, including a triple, while Brendan Livermont and Phillip Zens each recorded a hit in the win.

Jackson Welke earned the victory on the mound for Aberdeen, issuing one run on five hits in five innings pitched.

For Huron, Brady Feenstra took the loss in 3.1 innings, allowing 12 hits, two walks, and 10 runs.

Bubba Peterson drove in a run on two hits, while Trace Wenz, Logan Leyendecker, and Tanner Gilbert each tallied hits, including a double by Leyendecker.


Renner 14, Brandon Valley 10

BRANDON — Kyle Konechne drove in four runs during a Legion baseball victory over Brandon Valley Tuesday.

Konechne batted 3-for-4 for Renner, including a double and homer, driving in four runs. Sullivan Schlimgen batted 2-for-2 with a walk and three RBIs, Hunter Den Boer drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, while Charlie Hueners and Billy Laible each tallied hits in the win, including a double by Hueners.

Rylan Arbogast earned the victory on the mound, issuing five runs on 10 hits and a walk in 3.2 innings pitched.

For Brandon Valley, Bryton Stroh took the loss in two innings of work, allowing six runs on three hits and four walks, striking out three batters.

Luke Smart drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, Jackson Adams drove in a run on three hits and a double, Ryland Carroll drove in a run on two hits, Brayden Knutson tallied three hits, including a double, while Aiden Zerr, Nolan Pudwill, and Chase Leary each drove in one run on one hit.


Alexandria 17, Wagner 0 (4 innings)

WAGNER — Alexandria drove in 15 runs on 15 hits as they defeated Wagner in Legion baseball action Tuesday evening.

Esten Schlimgen and Jackson Jarding each drove in three runs in the victory, Schlimgen batted 3-for-3 with three RBIs while Jarding batted 1-for-2 with a walk, double, and three RBIs. Brayden Bahmuller drove in two runs on one hit and a walk, Jayce Slaba, AJ Wilber, Carter Popp, and Weston Kayser each tallied two hits and an RBI, while Tyler Sanderson and Sutton Dewald each drove in one run on one hit. Ben Wilber drove in a run on a walk in the victory as well.

AJ Wilber earned the victory on the mound, allowing four hits and a walk in four shutout innings, striking out two batters.

For Wagner, four pitchers combined for the loss on the mound, allowing 15 hits, four walks,  and 17 runs while tossing four strikeouts in four innings.

Ted Slaba, Malakai Segura, Christian Doom, and Carlin Hopkins each tallied hits in the loss.
