FREEMAN -- Kimball/White Lake captured team titles at the Region 3B cross-country meet on Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course. 

The KWL boys finished with 15 points, edging Freeman Academy/Marion by three points. Mitchell Christian and Platte-Geddes tied for third place with 45 points. 

The KWL girls won the team title with 12 points, while Gregory finished second with 19 points. Platte-Geddes took third with 38 points. 

Individually, Gregory’s Luke Sinclair claimed the boys region title in 18-minutes and 20 seconds. Kimball/White Lake’s Park Sinclair (18:28) and Freeman Academy/Marion’s Tavin Schroeder (18:35) placed second and third, respectively. Freeman Academy/Marion’s Malachi Myers (18:37) and Burke’s Fin Adams (18:48) rounded out the top-five. 

On the girls side, FAM’s Jada Koerner covered the 5,000-meter distance in 20:33 to win the region crown. Gregory’s Emma Thomas placed second in 20:44. KWL’s Autumn Baker (20:59), Lily Baker (21:41) and Christine Gaulke (21:49) rounded out the top-five. 

Arlington teams win Region 2B races

DELL RAPIDS -- The Arlington boys and girls teams won the Region 2B cross-country titles on Wednesday at Rocky Run Golf Course. 

The Arlington boys tied with Canistota for the team title with 18 points. Irene-Wakonda placed third with 29 points, while Dell Rapids St. Mary and McCrossan tied for fourth place with 39 points each.

Canistota’s Josiah Schroeder (18:00) won the boys individual race. Irene-Wakonda’s Ethan Haich (18:40) and Arlington’s Evan Fonseca (19:34) took second and third, respectively. Howard’s Conner Giedd (19:44) and Canistota’s Connor Hutcheson (19:44) took fourth and fifth, respectively. 

In the girls race, Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze (21:55) and Presley Luze (22:01) placed first and second, respectively. Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid (22:01) and Madalyn Madsen (22:18) finished third and fourth, respectively. Centerville’s Lillie Eide (22:27) placed fifth.
