Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes, Canton sit atop crowded leaderboard at Mid-Dakota Monster tournament

PRESHO — After day one of boys action at the Mid-Dakota Monster wrestling tournament, five teams are gathered at the top of the leader board with just 10 and a half points separating first through fifth place.

Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes (133.5) and Canton (133.5) are tied atop the standings just ahead of Tea Area (131). Winner Area (123) and Pierre (122) round out the top-five teams. 

Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes pushed seven wrestlers into Saturday’s semifinals as Rhys Truman (106), Gavin Braun (132), Vincent Lenz (138), Johnny Lenz (144), Iden Myers (150), Carter Konechne (157) and Garret Westendorf (190) all were undefeated on Friday. 

Canton has eight wrestlers in the semifinals with Bode Walker (106), Landon Walker (113), Carter Kendrick (120), Zach Bartels (126), Chase Adam (165), Aidan Kranz (175), Teague Granum (190) and Hunter Richmond (285) advancing. 

Tea Area has six wrestlers in the semifinals, Winner Area has seven wrestlers in the semifinals and Pierre has five wrestlers still wrestling in the championship bracket.
