Dimock/Emery Raptors 4, Mount Vernon Mustangs 2

EMERY — Phil Johnson’s eight-inning performance on the mound limited the Mustangs on the way to a Raptors victory Sunday night.

Johnson allowed eight hits, one walk, and just two runs in the first eight innings of the game, before Drew Kitchens came in to slam the door in the final frame.

Kitchens was also getting it done at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with a two-run home run to score the first runs of the game.

Sam Pischke, Colton Plagmann, and Chase Arend each tallied two hits in the win as well.

For Mount Vernon, Deric Denning earned the loss on the mound, suffering 13 hits, two walks, and four earned runs while striking out five batters in eight innings pitched. Denning also tallied one hit in the loss.

Luke Tiesler and Austin Graves recorded multi-hit games, Spencer Neugebauer tallied one double, and Brady Albrecht recorded a thunderous solo home run in the eighth inning.


Flandreau Cardinals 7, Hartford-Humboldt Gamecocks 5

FLANDREAU — The Cardinals offense was headlined by a five-run third inning to knock off the Gamecocks Sunday.

Three pitchers combined to earn the victory on the mound for Flandreau, Jacoby Anderson started giving up eight hits and three runs in the first four innings, before Bret Severtson and Luke Gassman came on to allow just four hits and two runs over the final five frames.

Austin Koenig, Jake Patterson, and Calvin Hegg tallied two hits apiece, including two-RBIs from Koenig and another coming from Patterson.

Keith Cutler, Severtson, Gassman, Beau Severtson, and Sam Gassman each tallied hits in the win.

For H-H, Briggs Havlik saw the most action on the mound, issuing seven hits, six walks, and five runs in four innings. 

The Gamecock offense was highlighted by a 3-hit, two double day by Blake Svoboda. Jonah Rechtenbaugh collected two hits including an RBI-double, and Joe Hanisch added another two hits, both being doubles. 


Dell Rapids PBR 10, Flandreau Blue Teal 0 (6 innings)

DELL RAPIDS —  Drew Sweeter tossed 11 strikeouts en route to a shutout victory over the Flandreau Blue Teal in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Sweeter allowed just four hits in his six innings of work, throwing 61 of his 76 pitches for strikes, while batting 2-for-3 including a double and a walk, driving in one run.

Tanner Solberg and CJ Smith also tallied multiple hits in the victory, combining for four more RBIs.

Conner Spindler and Zach Puetz also cracked doubles in the win.

For Flandreau, Gage Sharping took the loss on the mound, allowing four hits, four walks, and four runs in four innings of work while striking out six.

Mason Riley collected two hits on three plate appearances, while Paul Mc Glone and Ethan Hoffman each tallied one hit apiece in the loss.


Dell Rapids Mudcats 15, Dell Rapids PBR 5 (7 innings)

DELL RAPIDS — Dell Rapids Mudcats collected 16 hits to overpower PBR in amateur baseball action Sunday night.

Kole Zimmerman and Dalton Allen each recorded 3-hit days at the plate for the Mudcats, including a home run and 3-RBIs by Zimmerman and Allen driving in another run.

Carter Gullickson batted 2-for-4 with a double, home run, and 3-RBIs, Dalton Lehnen went 2-for-5 with a double and 2-RBIs, Kris Regas collected two hits with a double and 2-RBIs, and Spencer Fruedenthal added 2 hits and one RBI.

For PBR, Beau Behrend earned the loss on the mound, allowing four hits and two earned runs in 3.1 innings pitched.

Despite combining for 5 doubles, Connor Spindler, Drew Sweeter, Zach Puetz, and CJ Smith each tallied multiple hits in the loss.

 

Alexandria Angels 12, Corsica/Stickney Horned Frogs 4

ALEXANDRIA — The Angels scored 11 runs across five consecutive innings to take down the Horned Frogs in Sunshine League action Sunday.

Tyson Gau was the highlight for the Angels, batting 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, driving in three runs. Jerrod Zens also had a big day, batting 4-for-5 with three runs batted in.

Cole Wenande, Pierce Smith, and Jacob Giles each had multi-hit games, with Giles and Smith driving in one run each. Landon Ruesink, Blake Klinkhammer, and Reid Smith tallied one hit a piece in the win.

Riley McSherry tallied the victory on the mound, in five innings pitched McSherry allowed just one hit, two walks, and one run while striking out nine.

For the Horned Frogs, Caleb Crist was the losing pitcher, allowing three hits, two walks, and two runs in two innings pitched.

Brendan Wentland and Nathan Blom also saw the mound, allowing 12 more hits and the other 10 runs.

Luke Bamberg paced the Corsica/Stickney offense with three hits, while Aaron Groeneweg and Logan Bakker each added hits in the loss.


Platte Killer Tomatoes 8, Winner/Colome Pheasants 1

PLATTE — Platte opened up their season on a high note, handing Winner/Colome their first loss of the season in Sunshine League action Sunday.

The Killer Tomatoes showed no signs of rust, scoring eight runs on twelve hits to knock off undefeated W/C.

Travis Gant, Sheldon Gant, Hunter Hewitt, and Richard Sternberg mashed the baseball, combining for eight hits and seven runs driven in.

Preston Nedved, Grant Hanson, and Dawson Hoffman each tallied hits in the win.

Michael Buitenbos tallied the win on the mound for the ‘Mators, allowing six hits, one walk, and one earned run in the first six innings of play, before Hoffman would shutout the Pheasants over the final three frames, allowing just two baserunners via a hit-by-pitch.

For W/C, Derek Graesser earned the loss on the mound, giving up six hits, two walks, and three runs while striking out four in six innings. Graesser also collected two hits, an RBI, and  a double to open up the game.

Chandler Bakely, Austin Calhoon, Austin Richey, and Trevor Salmonsen all tallied hits in the loss.


Colman Argali 6, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 4

COLMAN — Despite getting out hit by the Dairy Queen Broncos 10-8, the Colman A’s built and maintained an early lead to earn the victory in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Ian Barker powered the A’s to a victory on the mound and at the plate, tallying 11 strikeouts in nine innings pitched, giving up 10 hits and four runs while batting 2-for-5 including a 2-run home run and 3-RBIs in the win.

Chase Dewitt and Dylan Reinhardt collected two hits apiece, including an RBI-double from Dewitt in the fifth inning.

For Madison, Tyler Tappe took the loss pitching, allowing five hits, five walks, and five earned runs over 5.1 innings while tossing 12 strikeouts. Tappe also collected two hits and two RBIs in the loss.

Trey Smith added 3 hits on four at-bats, while Aspen Dahl, Dawson Bakker, and Logan Albee each tallied hits in the loss.


Parkston Devil Rays 12, Parkston Mudcats 2

PARKSTON — Dylan Soulek’s five RBI day helped propel the Devil Rays to a victory over in-town rival Mudcats Sunday night..

Jake Helleloid earned the victory in his six innings of relief, recording 10 strikeouts while giving up just two hits and one walk.

Four Devil Ray hitters tallied multi-hit games, Seth Muth went 4-for-5 with a walk, two doubles and a triple, Dylan Soulek added three hits to go along with five RBIs, Jonah Schmidt batted 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI, and Landon Sudbeck added two hits and one run driven in.

Jake Helleloid, Max Scott, Ty Neugebauer, Logan Heidinger, and Caleb Titze each tallied hits in the win.

For the Mudcats, Jake Weber took the loss surrendering 12 hits, three walks, and nine runs in 5.2 innings. 

Jeff Harris collected two hits including a double in the loss, while Ryan McGinnis, Matt Malloy, Tate Kogel, and Pat Harris all tallied hits.


Freeman Black Sox 9, Wynot Expos (Neb.) 1

FREEMAN — The Expos were limited to just three hits as the Black Sox picked up their first win of the season Sunday night.

Trey Christensen earned the victory on the mound for the Black Sox, striking out 10 batters in eight innings while giving up three hits, five walks, and one run.

Bailey Sage and Jonah Hofer each tallied three hits, including a double and a home run by Sage, driving in four runs, and Hofer adding a double and two more runs batted in.

Jackson Fiegen and Lee Scheschligt collected two hits apiece, including two doubles and an RBI by Fiegen.

For Wynot, Peyton Wieseler took the loss, allowing four hits, two walks, and two runs across three innings pitched. 

Ryan Heimes, Landon Wieseler, and Dain Whitmire each tallied hits in the loss.


Yankton Tappers 18, Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 11

CROFTON — 12 runs over the final four frames was the difference as Yankton earned a comeback victory over Crofton Sunday.

The Tappers cranked out 15 hits in the win, including three doubles and two home runs.

Joe Gokie and Cade Subeck each tallied four RBIs, Gokie batted 3-for-5 with a walk and a home run and Sudbeck went 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run.

Shugo Kondo tallied three hits including a double in five at-bats, and Mitch Gullickson added two more hits including a double, a walk, and an RBI.

Shane Miller was victorious on the mound, allowing three hits, two walks, and six runs in five innings while fanning five batters.

For Crofton, James Kaiser earned the loss, allowing six hits, six walks, and eight runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Ben Hegge also gave up eight hits, two walks, and six runs in three pitched.

Austin Tramp and Kaiser paced the Blue Jay offense with three and two hits, respectively, with both cracking doubles in the loss.

Zach Hegge collected a hit and two RBIs, while Colton Schieffer added a hit, a walk, and another RBI.


Brookings Cubs 14, Volga Cormorants 0 (7 Innings)

BROOKINGS — The Cubs pitching trio combines for a no-hitter in a win over the Cormorants Sunday.

Jackson Krogman got the start on the mound, walking two batters and striking out three more in four innings, before Craig Lasley and Zach Shastay came in to throw the final three innings without giving up a baserunner, while fanning three more batters.

Rhett Zelinsky paced the Cubs offense, batting 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, Henry Hammrich added another two hits and two walks. Parker Winghart, Tyler Kreutner, Daniel Messerli, and Jamison Honkomp each tallied hits in the win.

For Volga, Dylan Vosburg was the losing pitcher, allowing two hits, four walks, and two runs while striking out five in three innings on the mound.


Redfield Dairy Queen 6, Castlewood Ravens 1

REDFIELD — Bennett Osborn reached base safely in all five plate appearances to help Redfield defeat Castlewood Sunday night.

Osborn Osborn finished with just two at-bats, but earned a single, a double, a walk, and was hit twice to get on base in the win.

Nolan Gall led Redfield DQ in hits going 3-for-4 at the plate, while Camden Osborn added another two hits and an RBI.

Peyton Osborn was the winning pitcher, throwing seven innings, allowing seven hits, five walks, and one earned run while striking out nine.

For Castlewood, Alex Gauer was the losing pitcher, allowing six hits, one walk, and three runs in five innings pitched. Gauer also led the team in hits with two, while drawing a walk and scoring a run.

Six other batters recorded a hit in the loss, with Lucas Ching tallying a double.


Menno Mad Frogs 16, Irene Cardinals 2 (5 innings)

IRENE — Three Mad Frogs tallied at least three RBIs to dominate in a win over the Irene Cardinals Sunday.

Macon Opplinger highlighted the Menno offense, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a three-run home run. Connor Merriam went 2-for-4 including a double and three RBIs, and Jacob Schoot added another two hits, a double, and three RBIs.

Dylan Lehr and Ajay Herrboldt each added two hits, a double, and three combined RBIs in the win as well.

Brayden Sattler earned the victory allowing seven hits, one walk, and two runs while striking out eight in his complete game outing.

For Irene, Anthony De La Torre Guglielmana earned the loss in three innings pitched, allowing eight hits, three walks, and eight runs.

Jacob Kribell, Dawson Munkvold, Sam Hansen, Dashel Spurrell, Dustin Livingston, and Josh Mares each tallied hits in the loss.


Menno Mad Frogs 13, Irene Cardinals 7

Canova Gang 14, Salem Cubs 2 (7 Innings)
