BROOKINGS — The Panthers pounded 14 hits as Dakota Valley defeated WInner/Colome, advancing to the Class B state championship Tuesday.

Luke Bruns and Drew Lukken each collected three hits and two RBIs, including a double from Lukken. Sterling Schauff added two hits and three RBIs, tossing a complete game on the mound allowing three runs on four hits and three walks in seven innings, striking out six. Jake Pick, Jack Wiese, Vaughn Hoffman and Jake Carter each tallied one hit and one walk in the loss for the Panthers.

For the Royals, Ryder Halligan took the loss, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits and three walks in five innings, striking out two.

Carter McKenzie drove in a run on two hits while Camdyn Anderson added one hit and one RBI in the loss.


Dell Rapids 10, Elk Point-Jefferson 0 (5 innings)

BROOKINGS — Tad Tjaden’s complete game shutout pushed Dell Rapids to the Class B state championship Tuesday.

Tjaden allowed just two hits in five shutout innings, striking out eight batters while adding two RBIs on a triple in the loss. Cole Ruesink collected two RBIs on one hit, Carson Maeschen tallied two hits and two RBIs, Jackson Peppel collected one hit and one RBI, while Talan Millage and Ryan Brandenburg each collected hits in the win.

For EPJ, Brody Van Roekel took the loss, surrendering eight runs on six hits and four walks in four innings. Levi Hanson and Ben Trudeau each collected hits in the loss.
