Nov. 3 Volleyball Roundup - Wagner sweeps Mount Vernon/Plankinton, advances to SoDak 16

Wagner 3, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 0

WAGNER — Wagner swept Mount Vernon/Plankinton in Region 5A volleyball action Thursday to qualify for the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-14, 25-13 and 25-10.

Wagner’s Shalayne Nagel finished with 10 kills and three blocks. Avari Bruguier posted nine kills, 15 digs and three aces. Kya Kjeldgaard posted seven kills, two aces and two blocks. Emma Yost logged seven kills. Madi Knebel finished with 16 digs. Macy Koupal added 32 assists and four aces. 

MVP’s Reagan Rus posted eight kills. Vanessa Hoffman finished with 11 assists and 11 digs. Ashlyn Pranger had one block and Berkeley Engelland had one ace. 

 



Faulkton Area 3, Ipswich 2

FAULKTON — Faulkton Area outlasted Ipswich for a Region 6B volleyball win on Thursday to advance to the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-10, 20-25, 26-24, 20-25, and 15-10.

Faulkton Area’s Addison Melius tallied 21 kills, 16 digs, and one ace, while Kelli Stoecker had 14 kills and two blocks. Aedyn Raethz had 11 kills, while Trisha Cramer had 20 digs. Gabby Kast recorded 37 assists, while Jaymi Senn added three blocks.

Ipswich’s Baylee Kulesa led with 19 kills, 17 digs, and seven assists. Gracie Lange tallied 16 kills, while Madison Geditz had 27 digs. Quincy Olivier had 13 assists and one block, while Kaylin Onken had two blocks. Vanesa Diaz added four aces.

 



Tripp-Delmont/Armour 3, Wessington Springs 2

BURKE — Tripp-Delmont Armour defeated Wessington Springs in a five set thriller Thursday in the Region 5B playoffs. The set scores were 25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 25 -27 and 16-14. 

Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Hannah Stremick finished with 48 assists, 24 digs, eight kills and an ace. Megan Reiner delivered team highs in kills (29), digs (27) while adding two aces and a block. Gracey Schatz contributed 16 kills, 20 digs and two aces while Faith Goehring added two kills and 20 digs. 

Avery Orth led Wessington Springs with 21 kills, 21 digs and six blocks. Alyssa Grohs finished with 36 assists and 33 digs to go along with two aces. Sarah Poncelow finished with nine kills, seven digs, an ace and two blocks. 


Wolsey-Wessington 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 0

HURON — Wolsey-Wessington swept Oldham-Ramona/Rutland in Region 2B volleyball action on Thursday to qualify for the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-17, 25-19, and 25-22.

Wolsey-Wessington’s Leah Williams led with 10 kills, while Mya Boomsma tallied eight kills, 15 digs, and two aces. Lainey Uttecht finished with 15 digs and one ace, while Taylor Horn had 25 assists. Mallory Miller and Kailynn Dorris added six and five blocks, respectively.

ORR’s Julia Trygstad tallied 15 kills and three blocks, while Bailey Hyland and Alivia Bickett finished with 10 digs apiece. Brooklyn Hageman and Paige Hanson added 11 and 10 assists, respectively.


Platte-Geddes 3, Kimball/White Lake 0

PLATTE - Platte-Geddes swept Kimball/White Lake in Region 5A volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-15, 25-15 and 15-11. 

Karly VanDerWerff led the Black Panthers with 16 kills while Cadence VanZee delivered 10 kills,14 digs and three aces. Avery DeVries had a team leading 28 assists and 14 digs while adding three blocks. Hadley Hanson had four kills, 14 digs and a team leading 4 aces. 

Dani Deffenbaugh led Kimball/White Lake with 10 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Ryann Nielsen had 10 kills, eight assists, two blocks and an ace. Madison Heath provided a team leading 18 digs, along with three aces. 

 



Castlewood 3, Arlington 0

HURON — Castlewood swept Arlington in Region 2B volleyball action to earn a spot in the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-21, 25-10, and 25-23.

Castlewood’s Mackenzie Everson led with 12 kills, 25 digs, and one block, while Presley Knecht tallied eight kills, 17 digs, four blocks, and two aces. Madeline Horn recorded nine kills, while Kailyn Larson had 14 digs. Gracie Haug had 27 assists and three aces, while Emerson Carter added three blocks.

Arlington’s Addie Steffensen finished with nine kills, 16 digs, and two blocks, while Natalie Burns had eight kills. Harley Johnson recorded 25 digs and two aces, while Tanaya Weiss added 21 assists.


Miller 3, Dupree 0

MILLER — Miller swept Dupree in Region 6A volleyball action and advanced to the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-11, 25-14 and 25-9.

Miller’s Abbi Blake finished with 12 kills, two aces and two block assists. Jaden Werdel recorded 11 kills, two aces and 12 digs. Tricia Lammers added 10 kills and Ally Mullaney posted eight kills and seven digs. Tyra Gates dished out 38 assists. Journey Palmer logged four aces and six digs. Jolie Palmer recorded 17 digs. 

Dupree stats were not reported. 


Burke 3, Gregory 0 

BURKE — Burke swept Gregory in Region 5B volleyball action and qualified for the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-8, 25-13 and 25-6.

Burke’s Adisyn Indahl finished with 17 kills, 13 digs and six aces. Kailee Frank added seven kills, eight digs, three aces and three assists. Emmie Hausmann finished with four kills, three assists and three digs. Elly Witt logged 14 assists, nine digs and four aces. Elle Johnson recorded 11 digs, while Paige Bull had three kills. Ava Sargent recorded eight assists and two aces. Piper Hanson logged two kills and three digs. 

Gregory’s Asia VanDerWerff finished with three kills. Jordan Svatos posted six assists, while Cassidy Keiser recorded 10 digs and one block. Bridget Eliason had nine digs. 


Northwestern 3, Hitchcock-Tulare 0

MELLETTE — Northwestern swept Hitchcock-Tulare in Region 1B volleyball action and qualified for the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-20, 25-12 and 25-16.

Northwestern’s Ella Haven finished with 17 kills, 16 digs, two blocks and two aces. Ashley Haven recorded 15 kills and 10 digs. Brooklinn Halvorson recorded 36 assists and 10 digs. Halvorson (2,484) passed Darby Duncan (2,469) in career assists. Halvorson is now No. 3 all-time in program history behind Diedra Artz (3,335) and Madalyn Groft (3,568).

Ella Boekelheide finished with three assists. Payton Grandpre posted three aces. 

Hitchcock-Tulare’s Katelyn Schroeder recorded eight kills and eight digs, while Rebecca Huizenga had two kills. Lila Johnson had four kills. Gracyn Bixler and Presley Binger posted seven assists apiece. Cambree Hoekman and Brooklyn Frankenstein had 10 and nine digs, respectively. Huizenga had two blocks and Schroeder had a block assist. Bixler and Ella Johnson both had aces. 


Freeman 3, Scotland 0

FREEMAN — Freeman swept Scotland for a Region 4B volleyball win to advance to the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-12, 25-20, and 25-19.

Freeman’s Kate Miller finished with 11 kills, nine digs, and one block, while Erin Uecker tallied seven kills, eight digs, and four blocks. Zenovia Butler had six kills, 17 digs, and two aces, while Ashlin Jacobsen had six kills, 10 digs, and five aces. Cami Fransen recorded 29 assists and nine digs, while Ella Waltner and Emily Mendel each had five digs.

Scotland’s Trinity Bietz had eight kills and 11 digs, while Grace Robb had six kills and 11 digs. Martina DeBoer finished with five kills and 11 digs, while Claire Janish had 10 assists and six digs. Kalley Vitek added 15 digs, eight assists, and two aces.


Dakota Valley 3, Tea Area 0

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley swept Tea Area in Region 4A volleyball action and advanced to the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-15, 25-22 and 25-15.

Dakota Valley’s Sophie Tuttle finished with 10 kills and eight digs. Claire Munch and Jorja Vandenhul posted eight kills apiece, while Munch had eight digs. Vandenhul added two aces. Addie Kleis recorded seven kills. Logan Miller added 33 assists and 14 digs. Kate VanRoyan recorded 23 digs. Cameron Sommervold added two blocks. 

Tea Area’s Lizzy Spah finished with eight kills, 15 digs and three blocks. Mara Grant and Julia Haack recorded four kills apiece, while Grant had two blocks. Jillian Huenink had 17 assists, five digs and two kills. Kalli Boom and Gwynn Campbell finished with eight and seven digs, respectively. Claire Hank had three aces. 

 



Hamlin 3, Flandreau 0

HAYTI — Hamlin swept Flandreau in Region 2A volleyball action on Thursday to advance to the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 25-16, 25-20, and 25-23.

Hamlin’s Ally Abraham led with 16 kills and three aces, while Gracelyn Leiseth tallied 12 kills. Addie Neuendorf had five kills, 13 digs, and four aces, while Kami Wadsworth recorded 11 digs, 37 assists, and one block. Emily Everson added two blocks.

Flandreau’s Claire Sheppard had six kills and three blocks, while Lizzie Pavlis also had six kills. Lily Klein led with 18 digs, while Sadie Iott had 12 digs and one ace. Abby Schoberl added 19 assists, 10 digs, and one ace.


Sioux Falls Christian 3, Garretson 0

SIOUX FALLS — Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian swept Garretson in Region 3A volleyball action Thursday night. The set scores were 25-8, 25-4 and 25-15.

Sidney Oosta led the Chargers with 15 kills adding seven digs. Addisen Barber dished out 30 assists to go along with two aces, three kills and four digs. Ellie Lems contributed nine kills, two aces, three blocks and six digs. Peyton Poppema had a team leading ten digs while adding nine kills to the Sioux Falls Christian attack. 

Garretson stats were not reported. 


Elkton-Lake Benton 3, Sioux Valley 1

ELKTON — Elkton-Lake Benton topped Sioux Valley in Region 2A volleyball action and advanced to the SoDak 16 on Nov. 8. The set scores were 19-25, 25-13, 25-23 and 25-17.

Elkton-Lake Benton’s Rachael Krog finished with 12 kills and 19 digs. Andrea Renkly posted 11 kills, three block assists and two digs. Kailyn Drietz added seven kills and 11 digs. Tevan Erickson had 34 assists, 18 digs, four aces and three block assists. Kayla Goertz logged 11 digs. Kylie Ramlo finished with 15 digs, three block assists, four kills and two aes. Aubree Bales had five digs, one solo block and three digs. 

Sioux Valley’s Landree Wilson finished with 17 kills, 11 digs and four block assists. Kaedyn Sapp posted 11 kills, 18 digs, one block and two aces. Adison Renkly finished with 11 kills and three block assists. Ashley Bjerke posted 33 assists, seven digs, two kills and four block assists. Talya Vincent had 10 digs.

 

Mobridge-Pollock 3, Stanley County 0

MOBRIDGE — Mobridge-Pollock topped Stanley County in Region 6A volleyball action Thursday. The set scores were 25-9, 25-12 and 25-18. 

The Tigers finished with 17 kills with Grace Sargent contributing five and Kori Gabriel and Cadence Hand each having four kills. Reese Hand led Mobridge-Pollock with 14 digs while Olivia Chase dished out 15 assists and an ace. 

Emma Keller led Stanley County with 12 kills and three aces while adding 11 assists. Katy Kemnitz had 13 assists and two aces. Reagan Weisbeck had a team leading 17 digs while adding four assists and two aces. 


Redfield 3, Milbank 0

ABERDEEN — Redfield swept Milbank in Region 1A volleyball action and advanced to the SoDak 16 on Thursday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-21 and 25-20.

Redfield’s Camryn Rohlfs recorded 36 assists and four aces. Katie Rozell added 12 kills, while Gracie Fast posted 12 kills and 17 digs. Chloe Zens posted 18 digs and Annie Smith had three block assists. 

Milbank stats were not reported. 

 



Harrisburg 3, Brookings 0

HARRISBURG — Class AA No. 1 Harrisburg swept Brookings in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 31-29, 25-12, and 25-22.

Harrisburg’s Gabrielle Zachariasen led with 15 kills and two aces, while Maggie Meister had 14 digs and two aces. Morissen Samuels tallied 10 digs and two aces, while Kaelyn Snoozy had 10 digs. Kayleigh Hybertson added 33 assists.

Brookings was led by Gracie Adamson with 18 kills, 14 digs, and 10 aces. Kymber Buys had 15 kills, while Morgan Linstad had 13 digs and two assists. Sydney Bebensee had 13 digs, while Tayla Dobrenski had seven aces. Gracey Sheridan and Maizy Mathis added three blocks and one block, respectively.


Watertown 3, Yankton 1

YANKTON — Watertown picked up a four-set high school volleyball win on Thursday. The set scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, and 25-20.

Yankton’s Macy Drotzmann led with 16 kills and eight digs, while Camille McDermott tallied seven kills, 20 digs, and 34 assists. Chayse Drotzmann had three kills and 20 digs, while Payton Moser had 27 digs and two aces.

Watertown stats were not reported.
