Three decorated seniors and three promising juniors headline this year’s Class B girls all-state first team, which was selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

The honor team includes Sanborn Central/Woonsocket junior Elizabeth Boschee, Lyman junior Mak Scott, Dell Rapids St. Mary senior Madala Hanson, Centerville seniors Althea Gust and Emma Marshall and Arlington junior Jaelyn Huntimer.

As the Class B all-state leading vote getter, Boschee is the Class B girls basketball player of the year. Boschee is making her first-ever all-state team.

A 6-foot junior guard, Boschee averaged 19.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.5 steals and two assists per game. She shot 51% from the field, 31% from the 3-point line and 74% from the free-throw line. Boschee guided the Blackhawks to a 22-4 record and a Class B runner-up finish.

She has 1,309 points and 542 rebounds in her career, both third all-time in SCW girls basketball history. She’s also dished out 153 assists.

“She is a great young lady that has worked hard to continuously improve her overall game,” SCW coach Rob Baruth said. “She is an electric player that makes big plays that really energizes the team. She can score from anywhere on the floor and can also defend any position on the floor.”

A 6-foot junior guard/forward, Scott was a second-team all-state honoree last season. This season, Scott averaged 18.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game. She led the Raiders to a 20-5 record and a sixth-place finish at state.

Scott has scored 1,681 career points, a Lyman girls basketball record. She has verbally committed to play college basketball at Division II Augustana University.

“She just does a great job of seeing the game and understanding what the right play is at the right time,” Lyman coach Derris Buus said. “I think that is going to be bode well for her in college. She really does make everybody around her better. It’s hard to do for some kids her age, but she does it well.”

A 5-foot-4 senior guard, Hanson is making her first-ever all-state team. Hanson averaged 17.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, while tallying 67 steals this season. She shot 38% from the field, 31% from the 3-point line and 74% from the three-throw line.

She scored her 1,000th career point and led the Cardinals to a fourth-place finish at the state tournament. Hanson will play college basketball at Dakota State University.

“Madala handles the ball very well and is an all-around great player,” Dell Rapids St. Mary coach Ed Gustafson said. “She was also an important leader on our team.”

Gust and Marshall were instrumental in Centerville’s recent run of success. The senior duo helped the Tornadoes win the 2024 Class B state championship, while they placed third in 2025.

A 5-foot-10 senior guard, Gust is making her second consecutive all-state first-team selection. This season, she averaged 12.2 points, four assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. She shot 40% from the field, 32% from the 3-point line and 85% from the 3-point line.

Gust finished her career with 1,648 points, 389 assists, 288 3-pointers (school record) and 144 steals. Gust received the Class B Spirit of Su award at the state tournament.

“Althea was a very dynamic player for us,” Centerville coach Tucker Tornberg said. “She had endless range, could score at all levels, and was an excellent creator of points for herself as well as others. Defensively she was often asked to guard other people's best player.”

A 5-foot-10 senior guard, Marshall was a second-team all-state selection last season. This season, she averaged 15 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and three steals per game. She shot 53% from the field and 60% from the free-throw line. Marshall finished her career with 1,735 points, 731 rebounds, 235 steals and 80 blocked shots. She will run track and play basketball at Dakota State University.

She was an automatic scorer from the mid-range in and had excellent patience and footwork in the paint to score,” Tornberg said. “Her vertical and athletic ability are unmatched which made her extremely difficult to defend and allowed her to guard multiple positions.”

A 5-foot-8 junior guard, Huntimer was a third-team all-state honoree last season. This season, Huntimer pumped in a school-record 514 points for an average of 23.4 points per game.

She added 6.5 rebounds and three assists per game. She shot 40% from the field and 86% from the free-throw line. Huntimer has tallied 1,257 career points.

“Jaelyn has been the heart and soul of our team, leading our team in every statistical category on both offense and defense this past season,” Arlington coach Tara King said. “Her tireless work ethic and unmatched passion for the game continues to set a standard for our basketball program showing she is never satisfied.”
