PLATTE — Freeman Academy/Marion’s Jada Koerner won the girls individual title, while the Bearcats’ Tavin Schroeder took the boys individual title at the Platte-Geddes Invitational on Saturday.

Koerner won the girls title with a time of 20:57, ahead of Gregory’s Asia VanDerWerff, who finished second with a time of 21:05. Platte-Geddes’ Berklee Mills (21:34) and Hanson’s Eliza Oltmanns (22:15), finished third and fourth, respectively. Menno’s Ashton Massey (22:30) rounded out the top five.

Centerville won the girls team title with a score of 32, ahead of Freeman Academy/Marion (32) and Platte-Geddes (34). Burke (34) and Gregory (37) rounded out the top five.

Schroeder captured the boys title with a time of 17:42, ahead of Winner’s Joseph Laprath (18:15) and Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman (18:16). Freeman Academy/Marion’s Finley McConniel (18:34) and Gregory’s Fin Adams (18:50) rounded out the top five.

Mitchell Christian took the team title with a score of 22, just ahead of Freeman Academy/Marion (24) and Gregory (27), who took second and third, respectively. Platte-Geddes (42) and Wagner (49) rounded out the top five.


Deuel captures individual titles at Castlewood Invitational

CASTLEWOOD — Deuel captured both the girls and boys individual titles at the Castlewood Invitational on Saturday.

Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan won the girls individual title with a time of 18:33.33. Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid placed second with a time of 18:39.13, while Deubrook Area’s Ellie Olsen (19:45.89) and Kylee Johnson (19:53.78) placed third and fourth, respectively. Deuel’s Isabella Imm (20:20.09) rounded out the top five.

Deuel also won the girls team title with a score of 12, while Arlington (17) and Deubrook Area (25) placed second and third. De Smet (32) and Estelline/Hendricks (46) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Deuel’s Ricky Berndt took home the boys individual title with a time of 16:08.16. Arlington’s Evan Fonseca (17:14.13) and Elkton-Lake Benton’s Nate Timm (17:17.88) placed second and third, respectively. Arlington’s Jake Burns (17:22.31) and Landen Johnson (17:39.52) rounded out the top five.

Arlington won the team title with a score of 11, while Deuel took second place with a score of 13. Deubrook Area (23), Estelline/Hendricks (32), and De Smet (60) rounded out the top five.
