ABERDEEN — Pierre’s Jared Lutmer won the boys individual race at Thursday’s Salmi/Sahli Invitational. 

Lutmer covered the 5,000-meter distance at Lee Park Golf Course in 16 minutes and :29.04 seconds, finishing a full minute ahead of Huron’s Cheech Harman (17:32.92). Aberdeen Central’s Christian Wells (17:39.58), Watertown’s Ty Sullivan (17:42.87) and Jamestown, North Dakota’s Jack Schauer (17:53.74) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Aberdeen Central boys and girls won the team titles. The Golden Eagle girls finished with 40 points, edging Watertown (41) for the team title. Watertown’s Kate McElroy won the individual race in 20 minutes and :38.38 seconds, while teammate Victoria Smith finished second in 21:04.99. Aberdeen Central’s Anneliese Wells (21:19.19), Watertown’s Emma List (21:26.32) and Aberdeen Central’s Juna Ramey (21:36.79) rounded out the top-five runners.

Krautschun, Person win Belle Fourche Invitational races

BELLE FOURCHE — Belle Fourche’s Lane Krautschun and Lead-Deadwood’s Hallie Person claimed individual titles at Thursday’s Belle Fourche Invitational. 

Krautschun covered the 5,000-meter distance at Belle Fourche Country Club in 17 minutes and :05.33 seconds. Custer’s Gage Grohs (17:35.58) and Buffalo, Wyoming’s Zack Freise (18:04.56) finished second and third, respectively. Douglas’ Peyton Cast (18:09.82) and Buffalo, Wyoming’s Ryer Morrison (18:12.42) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Person covered the 5,000-meter distance in 21:05.31 to earn first-place honors. Douglas’ Kira Ubence (22:07.48) and Custer’s Brit Wheeler (22:35.11) finished second and third, respectively. Buffalo, Wyoming’s Briley Farris (22:38.85) and Newcastle, Wyoming’s Aspen Bloom (22:49.56) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

Buffalo won the boys team title with 34 points. Belle Fourche (62) and Custer (66) placed second and third, respectively. Buffalo won the girls team title with 23 points, while Custer finished second with 35 points. 


Gropper, Dugan claim Bennett County Invitational titles

MARTIN — Bennett County’s Tyce Gropper and Jones County’s Jolie Dugan claimed individual titles at Thursday’s Bennett County Invitational. 

Gropper covered the 5,000-meter distance at Markota Acres Course in 18 minutes and :58.20 seconds. Kadoka Area’s Hudson Taylor (19:30.63) and Red Cloud’s Tasunke Weston (20:35.67) finished second and third, respectively. Lakota Tech’s Marvin Richard (20:51.85) and Todd County’s Jace Allen (21:05.06) rounded out the top-five runners. 

Dugan won the girls race in 21:55.31, finishing ahead of Wall runners Taylee Dartt (23:33.93) and Alexis Stephan (23:35.05). Todd County’s Elizabeth Moore (24:05.26) and Wall’s Maranda Poor Bear (24:32.27) rounded out the top-five runners. 


Miller boys, Sioux Valley girls win De Smet Invitational titles 

DE SMET — The Miller boys and Sioux Valley girls captured team titles at Thursday’s De Smet Invitational. 

Miller’s Alex Schumacher and Pierce Baumberger powered the boys team title. Schumacher (17:20.14) and Baumberger (17:32.97) placed first and second, respectively. The Rustlers won the team title with 13 points, while Arlington (22) placed second and Deubrook Area (26) finished third. 

Deuel’s Ricky Berndt (18:01.26), Howard’s Caden Schwader (18:50.17) and Elkton-Lake Benton (18:56.20) rounded out the top-five runners. 

The Sioux Valley girls finished with 25 points, finishing ahead of Clark/Willow Lake (27) and Arlington (33). Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker won the girls individual race in 18:55.26.

Great Plains Lutheran’s Halle Bauer (20:12.83) and Deuel’s Jaycee Hourigan (20:45.81) finished second and third, respectively. Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid (20:59.95) and Deubrook Area’s Ellie Olsen (21:31.09) rounded out the top-five runners.
