The boys DWU/Culver’s Classic is Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Corn Palace.

The nine-game classic starts with McCook Central/Montrose vs. Corsica-Stickney at 9 a.m. Viborg-Hurley plays Hamlin at 9 p.m. in the nightcap. All Games will be streamed exclusively online as Pay-Per-View via LiveTicket.tv at dwu.liveticket.tv. You can purchase a day pass for each event at $12.50.

Here’s a look at three games to watch:

Viborg-Hurley vs. Hamlin

Viborg-Hurley and Hamlin will both continue their daunting schedule down the stretch of the season.

Class A No. 2 Hamlin played Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian (a 61-53 loss), Class B No. 2 Castlewood (a 71-47 win) and Class A No. 4 Sioux Valley (a 80-48 win) in three of its past four games. The Chargers (14-3) defeated Deuel, 85-34, on Feb. 8 before their date with Class B No. 4 Viborg-Hurley, which has also faced quality opponents in recent weeks.

Viborg-Hurley’s signature win was a 55-54 win over Castlewood, which led by 18 points late in the second quarter, at the Hanson Classic on Jan. 20. The Cougars, however, have dropped contests against Canistota (48-47) and Class A Lennox (55-39) in two of their last four games.

The Chargers and Cougars will face off in the DWU/Culver’s Classic nightcap at 9 p.m.

Hamlin, which has lost two games against Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian, is paced by all-state junior guard Easton Neuendorf.

The Cougars counter with Class B all-stater Nick Hanson, a 6-foot-6 junior center.

Canistota vs. White River

White River and Canistota, two programs on opposite sides of the state, have history.

Since 2011, the Tigers and Hawks have met nine times on the hardwood. The Hawks own a 4-5 record, including a four-game winning streak over the powerhouse Tigers from 2016-2021.

They will get reacquainted at 7:30 p.m. at the Corn Palace.

The Class B No. 1 Tigers (15-2) are coming off a 69-58 setback against Class A No. 3 Pine Ridge. White River’s other defeat was against Class A Rapid City Christian in the Lakota Nation Invitational semifinals in December.

White River is powered by all-state guard Nic Marshall, who tossed in 29 points against the Thorpes on Tuesday. The Tigers are ranked No. 1 in the latest Class B poll and are atop the Class B seed points standings.

Canistota (12-3) picked up wins over Menno (81-34) and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland (71-30) this week. The Hawks have dropped games against Ethan (59-57), De Smet (54-36) and Canton (65-50) this season.

Canistota, which is No. 7 in the Class B seed points standings, is paced by all-state guard Tage Ortman. The future Dakota State University men’s basketball player netted 24 points and dished out 10 assists against ORR on Thursday.

Gregory vs. Dell Rapids St. Mary

Two unfamiliar foes will collide at the Corn Palace.

Gregory, from south central South Dakota, will play Dell Rapids St. Mary, which is located 20 miles north of Sioux Falls. The Gorillas and Quarriers, who haven’t played in recent years, will play at 4:30 p.m.

The Cardinals are coming off a 68-60 loss against Howard on Thursday. Dell Rapids St. Mary dropped contests against Class A Sioux Valley (59-47), along with setbacks against Class B powers Castlewood (68-49) and White River (63-49).

The Cardinals are paced by junior guard Maverick LeBrun, who had 26 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots against Arlington on Monday.

The Gorillas counter with all-stater Daniel Mitchell, a 6-foot-7 senior forward. Gregory has dropped contests against St. Mary, Nebraska (69-60), Howard (42-34) and Class A Winner (55-48).

Gregory, which plays Scotland on Friday, is riding a three-game winning streak.
