While Canton remains the favorite to win an eighth consecutive Class B wrestling team title the battle for second place just got interesting.

Wrestling without Ryken Orel (ranked No. 2 at 144), Winner Area finished second at Saturday’s Tri-Valley tournament, finishing with 216.5 points, ahead of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes (194).

In the latest Dakota Grappler rankings, Canton continues to lead the Class B team rankings. The C-Hawks are projected to score 140 points, ahead of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes (113) and Winner Area (113). Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall (98) and Tri-Valley (83) along with Bon Homme/Avon (83) round out the top-five teams.

In this week’s rankings, McCook Central/Montrose senior Landon Flogstad (120) is top-ranked in a weight class that showed huge fluctuation this week. Last week’s top-ranked wrestler at 120, Canton’s Carter Kendrick, dropped all the way to No. 7 after not wrestling over the weekend.
