Despite a weekend of wrestling being wiped away because of the cold weather, Class B still had some upsets and tons of movement for the Week 7 Dakota Grappler rankings.

At a triangular on Jan. 11, Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes junior Lucas Lenz beat Howard’s Weston Remmers, 5-4. At the same triangular, Lenz pinned Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessiongton’s Tyson Eddy. For his efforts Lenz moved into the No. 1 ranking at 165 pounds and was named Dakota Grappler’s Wrestler Of The Week.

Canton’s Ayson Rice did not appear in each of the last two polls. C-Hawk Teague Granhum moved from 144 to 150 and is ranked No. 5 in that weight class. It is expected that Rice, a three-time state champion, will make the move to 144 this week.

For a second consecutive week the Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall Badlands Brawlers are Dakota Grapplers top-ranked team with 146 points, ahead of Canton (124) and Custer (111). Winner Area (106) and Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes (100) round out the top-five Class B teams this week.
