PRESHO — Wall speedster Nora Dinger continues to put up good marks for the Eagles. At Thursday’s Cecil Johnson Relays in Presho Dinger won the 100-meter dash (:13.28) and long jump with a Class B leading jump (17-1) and ran a leg on Wall’s second place 400-meter relay team. 

Winner’s Keelie Kuil seems to be rounding into shape. On Thursday Kuil clocked (1:00.64)  in the 400-meter dash. She also ran legs on Winner’s winning 400-meter relay (:51.79) and 1,600 meter relay (4:18.99). 

Burke’s Piper Hanson continues to own both hurdles races out west. At the Cecil Johnson meet Hanson won the 100-meter hurdles (:16.49) and 300-meter hurdles (:48.67). 

Gregory’s Kade Stukel was a speed demon on Thursday winning the 100-meter dash (:11.48), 200 meter dash (:23.88) and anchoring the winning 400-meter relay team (:44.58). 

Rylan McDonnell continued jumping well for the Eagles. He won the long jump (22–4) and triple jump (40-2.75). 

The Philip distance crew did their thing Thursday with Wakely Burns winning the 1,600 meter run (4:40.02), Tukker Boe the 3,200 meter run (10:59.85). The Scotties also won the 1,600 meter relay (3:45.13) and the medley relay (3:52.92).

 

West Central girls look strong in sprints and relays at Terry Bong Invitational

CANTON — If the West Central girls hope to be in any kind of contention for the Class A state track meet they will need tremendous efforts from the girls in the sprints, jumps and short relays.

On Tuesday at the Terry Bong Invitational the Trojans looked rock solid. 

Emma Geohring won the 100-meter dash (13.23), finished second in the long jump (16-11) and ran legs on West Central’s winning 400-meter relay (:51.66) and 800-meter relay team (1:47.17). Sadie Berg won the 200-meter dash (:27.30) and the Trojans won the 1,600 meter relay. 

Lennox’s Emily Plucker won the 800-meter run (2:25.29) and the Orioles won the 3,200-meter relay (10:04.02).

Canton’s Jaryn Warejcka won the long jump (17-4) and the 100-meter hurdles (:16.09). 

The Lennox boys had a strong day on the track and field. Cody Peterson threw the shot put (49-1.5) and discus (140-5). Layton Smith won the high jump (5-10).

The Orioles picked up wins in the 3,200 meter relay (8:28.77). Layne Kuper won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.56) and the 300 meter hurdles (:41.28).

Dell Rapids jumper Braden Fersdahl won the triple jump (39-11.75) and finished second in the long jump (20-5). 

 

Sioux Falls Christian 3,200 meter relay teams post quick times at First Dakota Relays

With the 3,200 meter relays normally contested as the first running event of the day spectators witnessed some great races in South Dakota's longest relay right out of the gate.

The Sioux Falls Christian quartet of Ellie Maddox, Brianna VanderPol, Natalie Smith and Anna Vyn turned in the top Class A time this season (9:40.0). The Sioux Falls Christian boys dipped under the 8-minute barrier as the quartet of Noah Schroder, Bennett Wassenaar, Davis Buck and Isaac Davelaar clocked (7:54.00) . 

The Sioux Falls Christian girls had a strong day from Emma Buys who won the 100-meter dash (:12:79) and 200-meter dash (:26.71). 

The Yankton girls had three individual winners with Tierney Faulk winning the 300-meter hurdles (:48.44) Sydnee Serck the 800 meter run (2:23.56) and Burkley Olson the long jump (16-10). 

Elk Point-Jefferson’s Josie Curry won the shot put with a heave of (41-1.5). 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Paul Hoekman won the shot put (53-4) and discus (153-0). Charger Josiah Adams won the 100-meter dash (:10.79) and the 110-meter hurdles (:15.07)

Yankton’s Austin Gobel won the 200-meter dash (:22.52) and the long jump (21-4.5).

Sioux Falls Christian dominating the relays is becoming an every meet attraction. On Thursday the Chargers won the 800-meter relay (1:31.30), the 3,200 meter relay (7:54.00) and the medley relay (3:48.96). 

The Mitchell boys won the 400-meter relay (:44.42) while Yankton captured the 1,600 meter relay.
