Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 7, Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar 2

MITCHELL — Jack Simonsen and Jon Wilhelmsen hit homers as the Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels defeated Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar in Class A state amateur baseball tournament action Friday. 

Wilhelmsen finished 3 of 4 and drove in two runs, while Simonsen had two hits and an RBI. Zach Dibble had two hits, while Jaden Holzer drove in two runs. Dylan Ades had an RBI. Seth Peterson earned the win after scattering 11 hits, allowing one earned run and struck out four batters.

For Aberdeen, Jesse Babcock had three hits. Brandon Kusler and Kelley Coates had two hits apiece. Michael Babcock drove in a run, while Colton Cox, Mitchell Babcock and Chad Ellingson had hits. Ellingson took the loss after allowing six earned runs on 11 hits and struck out three batters in a complete-game outing.  


Brookings 4, Yankton 2

MITCHELL — Brookings scored four runs in the first inning and held off Yankton for a Class A state amateur baseball tournament win Friday. 

Noel Burgos and Chase McDaniel had two hits apiece for Brookings, while Jeff Fish, Henry Hammrich and JaColby Anderson each had hits. Hammrich drove in two runs. Fish had an RBI. 

Jake Ammann earned the win after throwing 3.1 scoreless relief innings and struck out three batters. Starter Jackson Krogman struck out five batters and allowed one earned run on four hits. 

For Yankton, Joe Gokie and Will Rauch had two hits apiece. Cade Sudbeck and Dylan Prouty each had hits. Mitch Gullickson and Collin Zahrbock drove in runs. Kieren Luellman took the loss after allowing three earned runs on four hits and struck out three batters in his six-inning start. 


Sioux Falls Brewers 10, Renner 8

MITCHELL — The Sioux Falls Brewers edged Renner for a Class A state amateur baseball tournament win Friday. 

T.J. Miller finished 4 of 5 and drove in two runs, while James Borges hammered a three-run homer. Sam Baier and Josh Kunzmann had three hits apiece. Sam Siegel had two hits and drove in two runs. Bryce Ahrendt earned the win after scattering six hits, striking out three batters and allowing two earned runs in 3.2 relief innings. 

For Renner, Mitch Stroh had four hits and drove in two runs. Tyler Peyton had two hits and drove in three runs. Maddux Baggs had three hits. Josh Baumgart took the loss after allowing four earned runs on three hits and struck out three batters.
