Dell Rapids Mudcats 8, Canova Gang 7

CANOVA — Dell Rapids pounded 14 hits as it claimed the District 4B championship Saturday.

Kole Zimmerman and Kris Regas each tallied three hits and two RBIs, Mark Abrahamson drove in two runs on two hits, Carter Gullickson and Chad Hunt each tallied two hits and an RBI, while Ty Hoglund and Trevor Fruedenthal each tallied hits in the win.

Dalton Allen allowed five runs on four hits and two walks in four innings.

For Canova, Jack Nieses took the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks in two innings, striking out three.

Cole Gassman batted 3-for-4 with a walk and a homer, driving in three runs, Riley Genzlinger hit a two-RBI double, while Jared Miller and Kendall Gassman each tallied hits in the loss.

 

Tabor Bluebirds 6, Lesterville Broncs 3

LESTERVILLE — Five different batters each tallied multiple hits as Tabor defeated Lesterville for the South Central League District Championship Saturday night.

Hunter Hallock, Sam Caba, Chris Sutera, Landon Schmidt, and Landon Bares each tallied two hits, including doubles by Hallock, Sutera, and Bares. Zach Sutera hit a three-run homer, while Riley Rothschadl had a homer and a walk scoring two runs

Bares earned the victory on the mound allowing one run on four hits and four walks in five innings.

For Lesterville, Ethan Wishon allowed six runs on 10 hits and a walk in 5.1 innings.

Tyler Edler tallied two RBIs on two hits and a walk, including a homer, Andy Dollerschell hit a solo home run, while Tanner Van Driel and Cam Shiltz each had two hits in the loss.


Dell Rapids PBR 10, Colman A’s 0 (7 innings)

CANOVA — Drew Sweeter drove in four runs and struck out six batters as Dell Rapids PBR qualified for the state tournament Saturday.

Sweeter allowed five hits in seven innings while striking out six in seven innings.

Sweeter connected on a grand slam in the sixth inning, Brayden Pankonen tallied two hits and two RBIs, Beau Behrend and Zach Puetz each drove in a run on two hits, Riley Hoffman tallied a hit, walk, and an RBI, while Conner Spindler and Chris Kropuenske each tallied two hits, including a double in the loss.

For Colman, Paul Clark allowed 10 runs on 13 hits and two walks in the loss.

Clark batted 3-for-3 at the plate, while Chase DeWitt and Curt Hemmer each tallied a hit in the loss.


Aberdeen Circus 8, Baltic River Dawgs 6

ABERDEEN — Chad Ellingson went the distance on the mound as Baltic defeated Aberdeen Circus in Class A district tournament action Saturday.

Ellingson allowed six runs on 15 hits and three walks while striking out five batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Jesse Babcock drove in a run on two hits, including a solo homer, Kelly Coates drove in two runs on a hit, Easton Millar tallied a hit, two walks, and an RBI, while Ryan Ellingson drove in a run as well.

For Baltic, Matt White allowed seven runs on six hits and four walks in 6.1 innings.

Ty Schafer, Ray Williams III, and Beau Keith combined for 10 hits and three RBIs, including a double and a triple by Schafer and a double by Keith.


Yankton Tappers 1, Renner Monarchs 0

RENNER — Waylon McNight’s fifth-inning solo home run lifted Yankton to a Class A district tournament victory over Renner Saturday.

McNight batted 2-for-3 with a double and homer, while Lucas Kampshoff and Matthew Sheldon each tallied hits in the win.

Mark Kathol earned the victory on the mound allowing three hits and a walk in seven shutout innings.

For Renner, Jeremiah Mauch allowed one run on four hits and a walk while tossing 23 strikeouts in the loss.

Mitch Stroh and Tony Lanier each tallied two hits in the loss.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 7, Brandon Valley Rats 1

RENNER — Seth Peterson racked up 12 strikeouts as Sioux Falls defeated Brandon Valley in Class A district tournament action Saturday.

Peterson allowed just one run on seven hits and a walk in a complete game outing to earn the victory on the mound.

Zach Dibble and Trevor Hurley each had two hits, Jack Simonsen and Damon Baruth each drove in two runs on one hit and a walk, while Lucas Wilber collected an RBI-single. Carter Brown drove in a run on a walk, while Kyle Gulbrandson and Connor Hurley each tallied a hit in the win.

For Brandon Valley, Carter Labric took the loss allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in 0.1 innings.

Jaxon Haase batted 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Nick Hokenstad, Dawson Mork, and Tayton Stroh each tallied a hit in the loss.


Renner Monarchs 4, Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 2

RENNER — Tony Lanier’s three-run homer lifted Renner past Sioux Falls during Class A district tournament action Saturday.

Mitch Stroh drove in a run on a hit and a walk, Lanier tallied three RBIs on a homer, Ryan Hamilton tallied two hits, while Maddux Baggs batted 1-for-1 with three walks in the win.

Josh Baumgart earned the victory on the mound, allowing one run on two hits in three innings, striking out three batters.

For Sioux Falls, Jamie Legg took the loss allowing four runs on five hits and five walks in five innings, striking out three.

Connor Hurley tallied an RBI-double while Kyle Gulbrandson had two hits in the loss.

 

Sioux Falls Brewers 13, Baltic River Dawgs 0 (7 innings)

ABERDEEN — Sam Siegel drove in four runs as Sioux Falls earned a mercy rule victory over Baltic during Class A district tournament action Saturday.

Siegel batted 2-for-4 with a walk and a homer scoring four runs, Drue Soukup batted 2-for-4 with a walk, double, and three RBIs, Brandon Rudd tallied two hits, a double, a walk, and two RBIs, Ian Strum batted 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while TJ Miller tallied a double, walk, and an RBI in the win.

Jacob Glovich tossed six shutout innings for Sioux Falls, allowing just two hits and four walks, striking out six.

For Sioux Falls, Hunter Larson allowed four runs on five hits in 0.2 innings.

Ty Schafer and Myles Rees each tallied a hit in the loss.
