Baltic boys, Flandreau girls secure team titles at MCM cross-country meet

SALEM — The Baltic boys and Flandreau girls captured team titles at Tuesday’s McCook Central/Montrose Invitational. 

The Baltic boys recorded 30 points, finishing just ahead of Ethan/Parkston (31) for the team title. Freeman Academy/Marion, which was led by first-place finisher Tavin Schroeder, placed third with 44 points. The meet took place at the McCook Country Club. 

Flandreau, which had three runners in the top 11, finished with 17 points to earn the girls team title. Kimball/White Lake (23) and Colman-Egan (25) rounded out the top-three teams. 

Schroeder covered the 5,000-meter distance in 17:05.66 to secure the individual race. Canistota’s Josiah Schroeder placed second in 17:20.70, while Dell Rapids’ Josh Fletcher took third in 17:31.60. Howard’s Caden Schwader (17:47.05) and Baltic’s John Gronewold (17:52.16) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Wiese covered the 5,000-meter distance in 20:11.11, while FAM’s Jada Koerner placed second in 20:54.23. Ethan/Parkston’s Ella Pollreisz (21:20.87), Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze (21:34.31) and Kimball/White Lake’s Lily Baker (21:40.85) rounded out the top-five finishers.
