CUSTER — Under nearly perfect weather conditions teams from South Dakota and Wyoming competed in the Custer Invitational on Tuesday. 

With several of their big guns sitting out Tuesday’s meet in anticipation of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays that start on Friday the Custer girls still managed wins from Taylor Busch in the 400-meter dash (1:02.37). Jayda Bennett in the 100 meter hurdles (:16.29), Torri Virtue in the shot put (36-3) and Alice Sedlacek in the discus (121-2) and Ciana Stiefel in the pole vault (11-11). 

Red Cloud’s April Knight won the 100-meter dash (:13.17) and 200 meter dash (:27.98). The Crusaders also earned wins from Rarity Cournoyer in the 1,600 meter run (5:46.37) and Ashlan Carlow in the 300 meter hurdles. 

Belle Fourche’s Mataya Ward was third in the 100-meter dash (:13.49), fifth in the high jump (4-8) and ran a leg on the winning 400-meter relay (:51.86). 

For the boys Custer freshman Danny Immormino won the 100 meter dash (:11.45) and 200 meter dash(:23.94). The Wildcats also picked up wins from Alex Van Horn in the 400 meter dash (:52.98), Gage Grohs in the 800-meter run (2:00.58), Kincade Lehman in the 300-meter hurdles (:44.16) and Robbie Emery in the pole vault (13-10). 

The Belle Fourche boys picked up wins from Sawyer Clarkson in the 1,600 meter run 4:25.07, the 400 meter relay (:45.13), 1,600 meter relay (3:47.93) and Gunnar Geib in the shot put (45-11).
