BROOKINGS — The Bon Homme Cavaliers are team champions for the first time in school history.

Bon Homme shot a Madden Merkwan, Michael Branaugh and Kashius Tucker shot a 472 to win the school’s first ever Class B state team championship at the Brookings Country Club on Tuesday.

Merkwan tied for 11th to lead the Cavs shooting a 154 in 36 holes, while Branaugh (T-14, 154) and Tucker (T-42, 163) were not far behind.

The Philip Scotties dropped to second after its Day 1 lead shooting a 478 while Clark/Willow Lake (480), Hill City (480) and Wessington Springs (482) rounded out the top-5 team standings.

Hamlin’s Aiden Abraham captured the individual state championship shooting two-over-par on the tournament, ahead of Doland’s Kaiden Weinreis (+4), Webster Area’s Seth Lesnar (+5), De Smet’s Maxxon Kees (+7) and White River’s Bryson One Star and Wessington Springs’ JD Thompson (+8).
